Isara Learning Center (ILC)
The Isara Learning Center (ILC) opened in April, 2007 and is located in Nong Khai, Thailand. Each weekday afternoon, ILC volunteers teach English and computers to Thai children and adults for free. Isara started the ILC because we wanted to be able to have a greater impact on the students education and to have complete control over the quality of education reaching the students. The ILC is not only an after-school facility it is also the headquarters of the Isara Foundation offices and contains the dorm rooms for Isara’s free volunteer program.
The ILC has had three major renovations since 2007. The First Phase (click for video) focused on preparing the structure to become a school (the building was previously a pub/restaurant and had become severely dilapidated). The Second Phase (click for video) was to double the amount of classroom space and add a playground and pier for everyone to enjoy. The Final Phase is to landscape the surrounding property and should be completed in April, 2010.
ILC First Floor
The first floor of the ILC contains a lobby/office for the Isara Foundation, three English classrooms, one computer classroom, a kitchen, storage room, and two bathrooms (one for adults and one for children). The classroom space is able to hold up to 75 students comfortably. There are fans and whiteboards in all the rooms and the largest classroom has a video projector and computer with high-speed Internet access.

ILC Second Floor
The second floor of the ILC has the living area and dorm rooms for volunteers. There are four bedrooms for volunteers. Two of the rooms are very small (can fit one person). One room is medium size and can fit two volunteers comfortably. The last room is larger and can fit three volunteers. Each of the rooms has fans, lights, hardwood floors, comfortable beds, and Thai style decor. Isara wants all of its volunteers to be as comfortable as possible, yet still feel as though they are some place new and exotic.

ILC Property
Around the ILC you will find a playground, gardens, and a beautiful pier surrounded by dense tropical plants and trees.
