Lol! Is Sneaker carrying the breathe bag? And Ming! My, oh My! That's a big bag!

I think Terri is in a trance, I think she's imitating Tattoo from Fantasy Island announcing "Da Plane, da plane!" Wink Cheesy

Lol! Is Sneaker carrying the breath bag?

That bag goes everywhere with me!  But it was way heavy today carrying two huge bottles of water and extra camera batteries and tapes and a big towel to wrap the camera in to cushion it....  Cheesy

I'm tuning into this thread a bit late, but it looks like you are having a wonderful adventure out there. If you see any more scorpions, try to take a picture. Or run. Whatever's best for you! lol
The watch story is awesome Laurie, glad you got it back!
Terri- glad you didn't get hit by lightning. And with your clothes half dry that musta made drying the other side a bit easier!

I hope you continue to have lots of adventures! Have fun, we are all proud and excited for you to be out there!

One woman from Laos wanted to have a photo taken with beautiful Thartley.

And this one Sneaker look very excited to see the giant fish. Grin

Auntie Cuddles, as Ginafish called her, looks like she could be thartley's long lost "sister from another mister" in the 2nd from the last photo.

I still laugh at that.  I was so surprised that she sat down next to me, I thought it was her way of saying "Get up so some other people can get their picture taken" but when I went to move, she stayed my arm.  So then I started cracking up realizing I had become the photo op prop....not so much the giant fish as the giant farang woman. haha!!!!

Hey there, man I wish I could keep up with your posts...Sad Finally got the Road training and getting no rest. Take a trip to Chattahoochee and stay in the motel called "Admiral Benbow" I aint $hittin ya, Nasty little place, reminds me of Tiajuana. Needless to say I got me a storage bag with my own sheets, covers and pillow. Place is so bad that not only do I have to take an Ambien, but I have to take a Benadryl with it...Sad Hope I dont see any Scorpions there, the roaches are bad enough. One of the industries that I will have to work later is the Purina feed inustry, was advised to to put rubberbands around my pant legs, millions of roaches, pests as well as mice/rats... Oh Joy how I cant wait to work that place..hahaha well they just called me at 0305 for a 0505 job start back to Chattahoochee. Working 8 on and 8 off, have made 3 1/2 round trips in 5 day with an avg travl time of 7.5 hrs each way, not to mention I have to drive 40 mins to Baldwin.

Bet I would love the heat and food their in Thai as well as the animal/plant life. SO far I have seen everything Florida has to offer, minus the Florida Balck bear, which I was told there are several on this run. Plenty of deer, turkeys, foxs, racoons, opossums, owls, bats, all kinds of birds, beavers, otters, aligators. etc..

Gotta go choo choo,

Lova ya,

Darn it, ten long years of avoiding cameras, all for naught! You're lucky I like you Ming, or I'd be really upset. ]=

I wanted to take that serpent statue home, that could be the next wonder of the world!

And I wasn't very happy coming up on that fish statue, lol, I think my brows are furrowed in disbelief that you wanted us to go through it!

I had a lot of fun though, I think I wandered off a few times. [=

Sneaker is never on a normal sleep schedule....not since she was a baby and I could control it to some extent. haha!!!  I think the sun puts her to sleep because she can sleep at any time it is at any point above the horizon line.  As soon as its dark, her internal clock tells her its time to get up and want to do something.

Laurie cannot STAND to ride in the tuk tuks.  And I am not too keen on the motorbikes, no matter how good a driver somebody is.  Its not MY biek I'm worried about.  Its the other drivers around here that scare me to death.  But today, I had my first ride on a motorbike here in Nong Khai when PK took me up to the phone company to get a line installed in my place.  The last time I rode on a motorcycle of any kind years ago before my husband passed away.  We rode one to the beach.  That was about 18 yrs ago.   Grin  My dad used to take me around on his Harley when I was younger, too. (We'll just say that was MORE than 18 yrs ago)

So, it wasnt too bad today.  The other drivers, as suspected, were the worst part of it all.  (the most difficult part for me was getting the helmet on and off...go figure)  Grin Grin

Terri, I'm so glad you got to ride with PK. He's a very skilled motorbike driver. I've always felt safe when I rode with him. Like you said, it's the other drivers that scared me the most.

I stole this from the interview in Thartley's blog....What is that on Ginafish's lap?  Is that a home made Welcome sign or were you at a miniature protest, or maybe lots of flys at the airport?? Cheesy

I really like to egg on the TSA people and protest having to pull off my shoes. NOT!

Cheesy Yes, that's my "Ginafish" sign that is now with me at home, minus the stick. Did you know that when Terri went to look for a stick, she found one in the yard of the rental cabin with bright metallic twist ties around it? I thought she had really went all out and decorated it! And that grippers tape she uses really grips!

Well, I had a very "me time" kind of day today.  Thought I would share it.  First was breakfast at MutMee.

Next, I decided to turn left instead of right when I left to see where I would end up.  You can get to the same place about a hundred different ways here, and I had not been down that way since getting here.  I went down Rimkong Road and took a few pics.

And ended up at the Tasadet market.  (Don't know if i spelled that right)

It was a fun day, but (and I know I dont need to keep saying this) it was hot.  By the time I got home around 1:30pm, I was getting burned by the sun and my clothes were drenched.  So it was home for a shower and dry clothes.  I'm on my way up to the ILC for a bit, see who's up there and how their day has been....   Smiley

Terri, it looks like you had a good morning. I've been to Tasadet? That's were I did most of my shopping for my store.  Have you sampled any of their packaged sweets? Sometimes they look like they might be sweet and instead they're very spicy. Undecided

Why do you keep resizing your pictures so I can't blow them up and see the details?? Grin

It looks like a great day! On Rimkong Road, are those little buildings the spirit houses that go outside of homes? I lol'd at the guy in red in the market, 2nd photo on top, with his hands on his hips. His body language said "Hey lady, whatcho doin? Are you going to buy some scorpion on a stick, or what?" Cheesy

Thank you for all the photos!!

I resize the photos because otherwise, it takes FFFOOOOOORRRRREEEEEEVVVVVVVEEEEERRRRRRR to upload them on this internet connection.  Much easier and faster if they are ginormous.

No I have not tried any of the food from Tessadet (Tassadet?) Market.  I am too busy looking everywhere.  And yes, I was getting plenty of stares, looks and laughs...like when I took a picture of a giant bag of mushrooms.    The shopgirl thought it was hilarious that I would consider that a photo-op.

Just got back from dinner with PK, Ming and Mo near the river.  Beautiful night out there.   Smiley

HA! I think the guy in red was probably showing disappointment b/c you didn't want to take a photo of HIM, just his merchandise!!

As a volunteer, this was a wasted day.  I went to the ILC this morning to get a package that was sent to me from home and came back to my place with the intent of going with PK to one of the local schools to film and take pics of some scholarship related things....and classes were this evening.  I missed Wed's classes for reviewing tapes and downloading/editing stills.  Well, not long after I got back to my place this morning, a distant storm decided it didnt want to be so distant anymore.  At the first really big thunderclap, I called PK.  He would go later to the schools and just snap some stills.  I leaped under the covers of my bed on the NEXT thunderclap that rattled the glass of my sliding doors...and I didnt wake up until after 4:00pm!   Shocked Sad

I made it up to the ILC for half of Sean's class, got some video and stills, and then sat in on PK's class.  Wouldnt you know, the question for the day was "What did you do today?"   Undecided

so anyway, I thought I'd post some pics of the scenes of outside our building and what the roads look like between here and the ILC.  I took these a couple weeks ago on my sony cybershot, and didnt realize I had the dinky memory card in the camera, so the street view on Mee Chai where the ILC actually is...well, I didnt get a shot of that...yet.  Ran out of memory.  But I got a few...

my building:

Down the road leading to Chai Porn Market and the 7 we usually stop at for necessities:

And this is nearly across the street from the ILC.  Its a temple that is being renovated.

I'm always amazed at the amount of power lines I see! Can we see were you or Sean stay on this side, or is this the street side and yall live on the river side?

And Oh My! What a cutie patootie puppy!!! Let's name him Benji! Wink Cheesy

The renovation building would be so cool to go in and photograph! I hope it's done before you leave! Or else Pk will have to go take pictures. Cheesy

Thank You!
