my room

since Nongkhai has no Canadian Embassy, "I dub thee, the Official Nongkhai Canadian Embassy" LOL

pardon the mess

upstairs balcony

PKs' pride and joy, the upstairs bathroom

the stairwell

the downstairs back porch...what can we do with this space?  If it were 2x bigger i would make a floor hockey area out of it...EH??!!

I'm thinking about retitling this thread "Isara's Newest Volunteer and Ginafish's Most Bestest Friend in the Whole Wide World, Wesley", what do you think?

Thanks so much for the pics!  The rain looks so good...not sure how hot or muggy it is there in it, but it looks really great.  Loved the shot of the back porch and the balcony.  My mom will be happy to know that the upstairs bathroom is so dear to PK's, erm, heart.   Cheesy  (My mum donated specifically to bathroom restoration)

Ginafish, has your heart rate come back down to near normal levels yet?   Grin

As long as the page loads to the bottom, I'm okay. It starts beating erratically if I look at the pictures. Is behind the house the banana grove? I love the upstairs porch! I would be investing  in wireless and hanging out there to play Znax. Wink

I am officially leaving the ILC at mid day on January 15.  I will be going to bangkok for about a week to meet with some business associates who are flying in from the U.S.  I will be purchasing gems and jewelry for resale in North America and gifts for family.  I fly to Seattle on Jan. 21 and then sleep over there before taking a little 1.5hour flight back to Canada.
I hope to continue finding computer labs to switch the homepage to Isara and I will try to find some sponsors for Isara as well.

I like amethyst. Wink

I'm glad you were able to stay four months and have your mother come over to experience Thailand with you. I suspect you have really enjoyed your time at the ILC. I know I have enjoyed watching all the projects, such as the playground and teaching. Grin

I have enjoyed my time in Thailand very much.  I have finally found an organization here that is not corrupt and not out to make money.  PK is a special person who leads with his heart and genuinely cares about the people of Thailand.  I hope I can continue to help Isara in whatever ways I can find when I return to Canada because I believe in this cause.

Thank you, Wes, for sharing your valuable time with Isara.  All your time, energy and donations to Isara's charity projects have been amazing.
You've experienced the beautiful magic of giving your heart to Isara and beautiful memories you'll carry with you always.

Today Wes taught his last kids class. In honor of the occasion all the students made him Going Away cards and said Goodbye (sawasdee).

Before class was finished, Wes made one last attempt to claim the ILC as a Canadian colony.

Afterwards we had a going away party for Wes. Everyone brought a lot of food and gave a lot of speeches. (The lady stirring the food is the owner of the home we rent for the ILC.)

Thanks a lot for your help, Wes. You'll be missed.

I knew I forgot something!  My little U.S.A bandana is not going to cut it.  I might have to have my mom send some reinforcement flags. Grin  Also am I going to have to teach all of Nong Khai not to add "eh" to the end of sentences??? J/k

lol Grin You're right, usually the new volunteer must fix all the bad habits the students learned from the last volunteer.

Wes spent a whole month teaching the students to stop saying "Y'all" and "fix'n". I thought having the Thais speak Texan made it feel more like home. lol

Update:
Wes packed his bags, got into a tuk tuk, and rode off into the sunset (at noon Cheesy). And Sean just sent a PM saying he's on his way to Nong Khai. You two missed each other by just a few hours.

I'm sure thartley and all the volunteers will really enjoy the kitchen you bought for the ILC.   Grin  Take care and stay safe.
