Everything seems to be smaller here....or I am just bigger. haha!!!  The portions are actually about right for what we should be eating.  I like the tiny spoons you get at the 7 with the yogurts.  Teeny tiny.

Yep, even for starbucks, the price is still outrageously high, but the cups are all like about an inch shorter.  They also put less espresso in each one.  Still tasty though. Grin

For all you Seanapalooza fans out there, I have done a short interview with him and made a blog entry out of it.  You can read it here: http://www.isarablog.com/...?w=volunteer&e_id=635

I forgot to ask about the boxers or briefs thing, but I was limiting myself to ten questions.....   Grin

To the unasked question he would have said "commando"...just kidding...I think.

Sean the pictures are great and so was the interview.

I guess we have Jane to thank for you being there and allowing us to live through your experience vicariously.

I don't really eat chips (no baked lays here) but for those that do, how about some of these flavors I noticed at the grocery store today.......Seafood Mayonaise anyone?? Grin

P.S. These are not crazy brands either, the first 5 are Lays brand.....For some reason I can't bring myself to see "Cuttlefish" chips as a snack.

Did you take those at Tesco?  Did you use your cell phone or your little camera?

Those are great shots of those things.  I have never seen seafood flavored chips before in my life until I came here.  Lips sealed

Cheesy Sean, I remember seeing the many varieties of chips at Tesco when I was in NK. I was also amazed by the different flavors. I wasn't brave enough to try any of them. I shopped mostly in the American section searching for peanut butter & jelly.  Grin

The bbq spareribs, just fine by me. The Mexican ones, probably okay but maybe too spicy. Pepper Steak, bring it on! Grin But the seafood ones...probably not for me. Cheesy

Like I said, I don't really eat chips (or "crisps" as Jennie likes to call them Smiley) aside from baked lays but I did however try some "Meat" flavored Pringles somewhere in Brazil I think.  There was something both awesome and strange about eating Pringles that tasted exactly like Sunday morning bacon.  Smiley

Thartley- Yep I took these shots at Tesco (the big supermarket) using my Olympus camera.  I'm no photography major Wink but they work.

I really enjoy the pickle flavored and black pepper chips sold here in the USA, but haven't been bold enough to try ketchup flavored. Any other weird foods that crossover but in different flavors? Maybe like cereal? Seaweed cereal? Is that an option?

And I can't speak for everyone, but camera phone spy photos of products at Tesco are wacky cool! Grin

Is there anything anyone would like a picture of here in Nong Khai or it's outskirts?  I'd be happy to go on a little photography adventure.  Smiley  Ginafish please limit your list to the top 99 Grin j/k

Sean, this is a great idea.  Cheesy

For me you won't have to go very far. I'd like to see a photo of the (vintage themed) restaurant on the street to your condo. (Send me a PM for a clue, if you need it) Grin I think there's a second location, PK knows where that one is, it may be a clothing store and not a restaurant.  Smiley

One more, Tesco was just beginning an expansion project, could you take a few, inside and out, photos of the completed site?  Pleeeaaasse. Cheesy

Sean,
When I was there I didn't take enough photos, so thank you for having this idea.

  I'll try...

Since you are brave enough for inside Tesco, (and your camera phone quality is decent), can you take more labels please? Grin Pictures of the Friendship bridge and river are always nice too... Oh! And ya know, there is this volunteer there...her name starts with a P... oh wait! No! A T! Grin Yep, that girl! I think there isn't enough proof that she's there. Cheesy

Pictures of your students are nice too. OH! And I don't remember seeing you do the Isara pose under the ILC sign yet? Smiley One with your basic studly self, and another with your helmet and moped. Grin

And now, I'll go think of the other 86 requests. Those were all spur of the moment requests. Cheesy

Sean,  Congratulations on your 10,000 views!  WOW! Grin  I think you should get a group shot of PK, Ming, Terri, Laurie, Jennie, yourself and anyone who volunteers with the ILC.  I guess you'll have to find someone else to take the picture  Wink  It's always great to see pictures!  I would love to see the vintage store also! ok, I'll work on those.  Its a standing invitation so feel free to ask for more if you think of something in particular.

Kitkat the place your thinking of is Easy Cafe, I'll definetly be able to get those as soon as I eat there next.

Ginafish- I can for sure get all that

Mom-  I agree we need a group shot.  Terri has a few photos already but she needs more... but Laurie shots are pretty much impossible.  I'll see what I can do.  PK is also difficult so I think a PK & Laurie shot would be the pinnacle, though I might not make it out with my camera intact. Grin

Hey Sean, I have always wondered where exactly the ILC is in Nong Khai. Can you make a google map showing where the following places of interest are:

1) ILC
2) Terri and Laurie's flat
3) The school you teach at
4) Statue Park
5) The Pizza place
... any others of interest

If you haven't made one before, just go to maps.google.com. Select the MyMaps tab. Select Create new map (need to login to google). Give you map a title. Navigate to Thailand. Select the Placemark option (teardrop next to the hand in the upper left corner. Place it at the location and give it a description.. Pretty easy from there. Nice! Smiley I spy with my little eye, an Isara tuk tuk sign!  Yippee!

And now for the questions, because there always are some Cheesy

3rd photo over top row, is that a residence? I know in the states, it's the waterfront properties that are prime real estate.

3rd photo over, 2nd row, are those public gazebo sort of things and what are they typically used for?

2nd photo over, 3rd row, that pink bikes looks like it's begging for someone to 'borrow' it for a joy ride, did ya think about it? Cheesy

1) Nope, I'm not sure what that is, it is a government building I think.  The waterfront properties are not actually prime here, like the they are at home.  The government school I teach at is located right on the water also.

2) They block the sun and people can eat lunch out there or just relax.  You can always find people hanging out on the steps looking out towards the river.

3) Of course I did. Grin  Actually any bike is up for grabs.  Nobody locks things up here.  You also just leave your motorbike and helmet without having to think about it.  There is almost no crime. Smiley

Some of my students on Friday Grin.  The little girl in blue isn't actually a student but she is super funny and outgoing.  She lives next door and wanders over when we have class to see whats going on.

Sean, thanks for the photos. All the students look very happy to be learning English.
My favorite is the photo of the shoes, it's a practice I never see here in the U.S.  Cheesy The little girl in blue is adorable.  Cheesy

On our way to Nong Tin Park, Chompoo and I encountered a herd of cows just walking across the street, presumably on their way home.  This is actually quite a common occurance.  I decided to pull over and take some pictures as they started walking right by.  Nong Tin Park is really cool, its huge, and is packed with runners and teenagers hanging out.  Definitely a nice place to spend an afternoon. Sean, I think I've been to this park. Is it the one west of town? I remember the bridge, but don't remember to large, tall ball on a pole. Can you please tell me what it is used for?
Ming will know the park I'm talking about, could you ask her if it's the same one we went to and fed the large catfish? Thanks,

KitKat

Sean,  All the pictures are great! Smiley  All the kids are so cute and I think you look great!  I'm so glad that you're enjoying trying new foods.  That's a beautiful picture of the sun setting behind the bridge!  Is it still really hot!  I saw where Terri's air was out.......that must have been awful!  Did yours go out too?
