I like me some Jason Stratham as much as the next girl or guy, and I understand he's done his fair share of car chase movies (Transporter, Transporter II, Transporter III in post-production) but Death Race?  Maybe someone can enlighten me, but the  trailer I just saw on Yahoo video made it look remarkably like The Running Man in concept.

Maybe he's hoping that by adding armed cars no one will see the similarity. Then again, in this one the felons try to kill each other whereas in The Running Man they're being chased by some sort of hired gladiators.

Maybe a fusion of The Running Man and Battle Royale?

Then there's that one movie where the main character goes to some casino and ends up being chased by the owner for 24 hours in some kind of organized gambling circle. And that movie Duel, where the main character is being chased by a psycho truck driver. There's a lot of movies like these, he's probably like borrowing ideas from here and there to make his movie as good as possible. I mean, it is Hollywood, they don't have any ideas of their own harharhar.

Sounds like a remake of Roger Corman's Death Race 2000:

Nah not really. In that one they get points for running over civilians while they race. It's like the game Carmageddon if anyone's played it. Or maybe the game is like that movie, who knows. But anyway, in this one they just try to kill each other, they don't kill outsiders. It' s funny by the way, no one's discussing whether or not it will be good, everyone's just talking about what movie it ripped off.

After looking around a bit further on th web, every article is calling it a remake.  I wasnt aware of the previous Death Race movie.  Roger Corman?  HAHA!!!

I think I will look at a list of his movies and consider which ones I would personally choose to remake.  Grin
