Well ladies and gents, it starts tonight! On Fox, the first week will kick off with the infamous auditions section, airing on Tuesday and Wendnesday 8/7C.  Grin

The rumor mills are already getting started after season six saw a decline in viewers. Biggest rumor, fewer celebrities touting their albums. Going back to letting the kids have the spotlight (along with their momma's and poppa's).
Second rumor, InSTruMents! Recall how Taylor Hicks could play the harmonica but they wouldn't let him? This year, there might be a few allowances made for this type talent.
Third rumor: The public might not be voting this year...  Shocked

So who's watching?

I hate to say this but I admit that I'm only interested in the "infamous" audition as I find the later stages of the show less-than-fun Tongue

That's the only part I can get my husband to watch with me. But he won't this week since the "Comanche Moon" mini-series is on.

In Singapore, do you get to watch American Idol at the day after we do, or is it delayed longer?

This would be called the Sanjaya effect. Finding the most talented singer is not the only thing. It is cool guessing how the audience (public) is thinking.

Also, I don't think the artists helped the kids develop as much as the comments from the judges did. I was never a fan of the artists coming in and showing them "how it's done". Maybe if they had more mainstream artists come in, but that British guy name Peter something was a waste.

I've been a big fan of American Idol since the very beginning. I'll be watching this season. I don't really like the beginning with all the silly stuff. I can't believe some of the folks they have audition.  Shocked   Cry

Hi Gina, yes we do get to watch Simon grilled the contestants and it's normally delay-telecast on the same day..

My world clock says it's almost 9 P.M. in Singapore, so did you get to watch the first episode already?

I only watched the first hour. The one who stands out right now was the 16 year old girl they hugged.

Reverted? I should say diverted maybe. Cheesy Although I guess reverted is correct. It started then reversed after I read the AI website. Grin Tonight's the dancing show with Carrie Ann and Bruno, but I'm not watching that.

I had to laugh at last nights performances, so many forgot the lyrics. Grin Grin I guess they were just too nervous.  Sad

The real stuff starts tonight, BabbbYY!! Yo Dogs, it's Men's night! WooHOO! I might not even watch Wednesday after getting my fill tonight! Cheesy

My mom and I were talking and for some reason, as we've gotten older, we are more into the male singers than the women. I think so far the only original female singer on Idol was Gina with her punk self. Smiley So who will it be this year?

Stronger Men? or Ladies?

Finally! A contestant who is 29, looks like the actor who played the Wolverine...a bonafide Hottie who is age appropriate for me to cheer for! Weak song...but he can serenade me anytime!

The 17 year old is totally adoptable! Grin

I actually watched and ACTUALLY tried to call in a vote.  The 17yr kid was really good, but my vote went for the dreadlocked #11.  He put a real individual and unique spin on that song and made it sound like it was a #11 original.

I am way sorry that I missed the one guy singing Bohemian Rhapsody in one of the earlier shows.  I really love that song.  They played that Queen song/video which was intercut with scenes from Wayne's World where Wayne and Garth were singing it in their little gremlin driving down the street, on the monitors at the gym last week and I went and rented Wayne's World just to revisit that time of my life.  Love the song and I hear that contestant sang it really well.

Its not a song that is covered much.

Was it just me, or did their teeth all look uber-white?

It's not just you. They all looked like they had spent many hours with the stylist. I enjoyed the dreadlock guy too, and hope he is able to keep the dreads as long as possible. Smiley The nice thing is that he had a nice voice.

From glancing at the girls on the couch, there is only one with stand out fashion sense. The rest all looked the same. And as Sanjaya proved last season, sometimes it's about looking different, not your voice.

Hey, so I watched both shows this week.  I like the guy with dreads too!  Reminds me of Jack Johnson (musical style and relaxed attitude).

It's true the girls are a lot less interesting, too many are alike and not original.  The one that stood out the most was the rocker-girl (she performed well too).  I also thought the girl with the curly blond hair (kind of hippie-ish) was original!  The little Asian girl is good too Smiley
