My best friend is a walking miracle...
His name is D.C. (short for Don Carlos) and he works as a semi truck driver and labourer for a large commercial farming and produce company here in my town.
Anyways for agricultural employers they are not restricted to a maximum 12 hour work day before giving at least 8 hours off between shifts like the majority of occupations are...
He has been working horribly long shifts of like 18 hours plus for weeks on end and sometimes he only gets like 4-6 hours sleep between shifts...
Well about 10 days ago or so he had been working insane hours putting in a 24 hour shift and such... I ran into him at lunch and he was like a zombie because he hadnt slept in who knows how long...
I told him to get some sleep and tell his boss he needed more time off to sleep but he doesnt listen to me because he makes a lot of money by working long shifts(overtime)
The Gist of the story is that about 10 days ago he was driving a semi hauling 100 000 pounds of potatoes about 15 miles north of town and he fell asleep at the wheel..
He rolled his semi several times and almost ended up in an irrigation canal... whats worse is he wasnt wearing his seatbelt either.
Luckily there was a Department of Commercial transportation officer less than a mile away trying to catch truckers and such without permits and all that... the officer actually got the accident on his dashboard camera so maybe i will be able to get a copy if I can find out which cop it was...
D.C. should have been killed by this accident but he was not (thank goodness). In fact all that happened to him was small cuts on the side of his face and one stitch needed in his eyebrow.
See the photos below and try to figure out how he survived this:

and of course here is the man himself:
