Delbert McCoy is an inspiration to alot of people.  I would like to share his story with everyone.  Growing up in the suburbs of Detroit, I would see Mr. McCoy almost everyday outside of the nearby pharmacy and grocery store, selling candies and talking with anybody who would stop to say hello.

Mr. McCoy was a victim of a senseless act of violence when two men set fire to the nightclub he happened to be in.  He spent 2.5 years in the hospital and has had over 108 surgeries.  Despite all of the adversity and despite all of the pain, I cannot remember a single time he didn't greet everyone with a smile and a friendly hello.

This is his story.

Perhaps my my mom Betty will add something.  She knows Delbert very well.

Thanks Sean. Smiley Delbert is still a handsome man with a firey soul it seems. I only wish I could have a portion of his gentleness if ever faced with something like that.

Sean,  Thanks for sharing Delbert's story.....he really is amazing to me.  He's an inspiration to everyone.  I look forward to seeing him every time I go to the store. Smiley He is such a sweet person who has endured so much.  I always look forward to his wave and his big smile.  When I start to sweat the small stuff, I think of him.  I started to watch the video again and it said that it was no longer available.  You might want to check it.  Ginafish, you're right Delbert is still a handsome man with a beautiful soul!

Smiley A very inspiring story showing amazing courage.   Thank you Sean for sharing this story.  How does someone go through so much pain, for so long, and still be able to give a smile to others every day??
