I'm not a gamer, by any stretch of the imagination.  But I am curious if anyone cares to put their thoughts in on MMORPG such as WoW.  From what I know, this game is designed never to end.  You can level up, topping at level 60, and after that, you can just go around collecting more stuff/skills or whatever.  But there's nowhere to go from level 60.  Until the new expansion/version in January.

Do any of the people here either play WoW or know someone who does?  And would anyone consider the game addictive in nature due to the factor that there is no end?

thartley - If you have 20 minutes to waste, and want to see the funny side of WoW, check out this Southpark episode. Some parts are really crude, but they did a great job capturing the whole MMORPG "sensation".

I managed to watch that without puking.  And yes, it was a waste of 20 minutes.

Well, as a mom, I absolutely HATE this game.  I think it helps to disconnect certain people from life in the real world, and for some people, it can be addicting.  Especially if they could have a genetic pre-disposition to addiction.  People get addicted to gambling, shopping, etc...it doesnt have to be drugs.  It can be whatever trips those pleasure sensors in the brain.  The thing is the behavior pattern.  Anyway, I try not to make judgement calls on things that I have no knowledge of, so I am assigning myself the task of watching some gameplay of Wow.  There is no hope that I will be a non-biased judge of things, but I will try to keep an open mind.  Wish me luck...   Grin

Well, so far, all I can tell that is happening is whatever character she is at whatever time...there is a lot of running...running through landscapes, flying over landscapes, jumping over stuff without the benefit of getting a bunch of fruit.  Sometimes the character stands still in front of another character and little glowy blobs will be sparking...and that is her character "spelling" the other character.  Then more running...

I'm not getting it.   Huh  Oh, there was some kind of corpse chamber lastnight, but I dont know why it was there.  Character walked around, looked around, then was off running somewhere else.

MMORPGs are fun, but nothing can really match the thrill of a good, single player RPG, especially one with an engrossing storyline such as Morrowind, or KOTOR.

Never found an interest in MMORPGs. I've played FFXI, Wow & Runescape (if you'll call it one) and they just get to time consuming and costly.
