Hi I am new here and am a BIG reader. Saw this part of the forum and decided to join in as I saw American Lit getting discussed.
Just thought I would add a novelist Everyone should read, one of the great American writers, and he is a recluse. People even thought that J.D. Salinger was a pseudonym. He wrote a letter to the new york times to tell them they were wrong. His name is Thomas Pynchon. First books were written around the mid sixties. He is quite a hard writer but definately worth all efforts put in. He is very funny and sarcastic. There s a genreal theme running through his books of him laughing at conspiracy theorists as his books are rife with wired happening and characters. Brilliant. Try 'The Crying Of Lot 49' or 'V.'
F. Scott Fiztgerald ain't too shabby either.
Yeah he was on our reading list for our research paper but I decided to pick Amy Tan. Her books are pretty amazing too.
