The Bourne Series (Ludlum/Van Lustbader)

I was at the library this past weekend and wanted to pick something up to read at bedtime.  On the paperbook fiction rack, I saw The Bourne Legacy and thought this might be the one that was out in theaters now.  It wasnt until I got home that I figured out it wasnt even written by Robert Ludlum.  Ludlum only wrote three Bourne books.  Eric Van Lustbader wrote this one I checked out. 

I have not started reading it yet.  Has anyone read any of the books in this series?

As a matter of fact, I HAVE. 

The first two parts of this book were fantastic!  As thrilling as any kick-patookis spy book I've ever read.  Then, came the third part.  Wrapped everything up way too easily, too many convenient ends.  It screamed "this is a great story but I've a deadline to meet!"      Still glad I read it, though.  Makes me want to read the first three books by Ludlum.

I'm confused. The Bourne Legacy wasn't the third in the series I take it?

Nope.  Robert Ludlum wrote three Jason Bourne novels before his death.  They are The Bourne Identity, The Bourne Supremacy, and The Bourne Ultimatum.  I dont exactly understand why, but Eric Van Lustbader wrote subsequent novels based on the character of Jason Bourne.  The book I read is one of these Bourne novels.

Maybe they are saving the Bourne Ultimatum for movie #6?
