Some good books I'd recommend reading (and that I've read in school these past few years) are Relato De Un Naufrago, and Pepita Jimenez.

I had to read these two books for different assigments while I was in the 8th and 9th grade, and I liked these two books. They just keep you in the edge of your seat (bed, wherever you go and read a good book).

The first one, Relato de Un Naufrago, is about a man named Luis Alejandro Velasco, who had to sail from Mobile (Alabama?), to Columbia. Due to not following rules on what to put on the ship, it sunk after a storm hit it mid-way their destination. Eight sailors were on it, and only one managed (or so they say) to survive, due to swimming towards a near-by sailboat (Safeboats, meh...). There, he spends 10 days with basically no potable water, and no food. Heck, he even had to take some old business cards and use them for chewing, due to his jaw hurting him for not using mobility. The lack of no one to talk to, and basically nothing to eat without having to risk your life. In those ten hard days, he endured many illusions due to lack of sleep, food and whatnot. He even encounters a shark, and has to use his remaining paddle (which he loses later on) to get rid of said shark. After ten days, he spotted land, left his sailboat and went swimming towards the island. Luckily for him, this "island" was actually a part of Columbia. When someone finds him, he is returned to his hometown, where his family is. He becomes rather famous, and soon, rich. But all the false reports and tabloids soon left him to shame...

Overall good album that like I said before, will keep you on the edge of your seat, with all the action, and what he has to do without giving up. I recommend it to anyone that speaks and understands spanish.

Now, onto the second book, Pepita Jimenez. I won't spoil much on this one, just gonna summarize it a bit...

First, a man named Don Luis sends his uncle various letters regarding his future visit to where his father lives, and his father's "girlfriend". Once he gets to said location, he meets Pepita Jimenez, and his father (which he hasn't seen in years). During this time, he mentions how his father acts rather differently around Pepita, nice and all, and even has asked his father wether if he's gonna ask Pepita to marry him. The thing is, Don Luis starts mentioning to his uncle in the letters of the beauty and grace of Pepita, even as to mentioned the "L" word. Don Luis aspires to become a Priest soon, but he starts falling on love with Pepita, and has a hunch that she might be going through the same thing. One day, they share a kiss, but then Pepita retreats. Days pass, and they don't talk, as Don Luis is soon leaving to where his uncle is once again, and complete his religious duties, trying not to fall for Pepita, and not becoming a priest. Yada, yada, they talk about the kiss, and they both talk about the situation, wether Don Luis will stay and be with her, or leave to become a priest, and the fact that his father doesn't know about it.

Won't spoil anything on this one, so I'll you guys to read the book for yourselves and see what happens. Good love story, all I can say.
