I found Alice's Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll online for free... http://classiclit.about.c...l/bl-lcarroll-alice-1.htm I think this site has more classic literature available for free, I found more when I clicked on the "More E-Texts" link in the upper left corner above the book title. Does anyone know of any other websites that provide free E-books???

Thanks. I'm not quite sure if I like the idea of free books online considering less and less people are going into libraries because of the internet, but it is sure convenient! What do you think? I hope people won't forget about real books, like they have CD's. I'm all about my old fashoined CD collection, and that's not just because I can't afford an Ipod.

"Alice in Wonderland" is one of my very favorite storybooks. I think it's great that it's online, but you're going to have to be very creative reading it, they're no pictures. (The queen has spoken.)

Alright, I now have five links on my Isara homepage to E-text books I'm reading. I'm starting to see that the internet is pretty nifty!

We went to the local library on one our Street Team outings. It was amazing to see all of the people surfing the internet. The library is just a big internet cafe! As far as reading goes, I prefer the hard copy. It is easier on the eyes, and it doesn't feel like so much of a chore. For me the Internet is good for finding and ordering book to read. But when it comes to actually reading it, I'll stick to the hardcopy. But if you are on a budget and don't have a library near by, the free e-books look pretty good.

Yea I prefer the hard copies too! If only I could find a good book here that was in English....I haven't seen any except English-Thai Dictionaries.

Alrighty...I have a friend who homeschools her children and she has promised me some links. I talked to her today, so I might have to remind her. There is one site that she transcribes books herself. I'll let you know as soon as I get the links.

Cool thanks! It's interesting to see how popular these e-books are, a lot of people must use them. I guess it beats buying the books from Barnes and Noble where you'll pay $15-20 for a book you read once then it sits on your bookshelf forever.

That's pretty neat, I think I'll check out (oops that kind of a pun, haha like check out from a library ) the one about the Queen of Hawaii. Your friend seems to be really into historical women. Thanks

Well, somewhere on there I saw where you can browse by century. LOL! This is the current project she is involved with, helping to transcribe for online access.

This site provides free classics that are read to you. It's only books that are in the public domain, but I enjoy them http://librivox.org/
