Our ISP just setup the Static IP address so we should be able to host Acorn on a regular basis now.

So I guess well dredge this little forum tidbit up and use it as a voice to express some ideas for ACORN.

Okay, so our major problem with ACORN is that the search results are either a bit off mark and/or very skimpy. So here's my solution. I think we (PK ) should look into a URL referral link. G* has one and I do believe that if a member could input a link with a short description (maybe metadata?) then it could help boost our output and accuracy. Just a thought.

It's been more than two months but we were finally able to update ACORN's index with another million web pages. Bringing the total index to 5,200,000.

Along with more pages for the US, we also include more results for Canada, Singapore, England, and some other areas as well.

The server is powered-off right now because it was on for 24/7 for about 3-4 months so we're giving it (and our electric bill) a well deserved break.

I've used the OpeanSearch plugin available for Firefox to install ACORN as my default search engine. As you can see in the following pictures, I've created a transparent icon using Photoshop Elements to appear as the icon.

I wanted to bump this thread and point you guys to the ACORN BLOG again.  New entry and all.  I would also like to point out how much more of a dork I am than a geek, BY FAR.  I wanted to appear to be smart and post a blog comment using the binary number for 10,000,000 which is the number of pages we are trying to crawl.  And I actually woke out of a sound sleep thinking "But 10,000,000 is already all 1's and 0's"
