Something wonderful is happening. Well, something wonderful is 'going' to happen ...eventually ....maybe. Isara has taken the first steps into building its own search engine. This will be a looooong process, with many obstacles along the way. But nothing good ever came easy, right? .....Well, except maybe microwave pizza.

For those of you who have been following Isara over the past year or so, you know that we have tried to be as self-sufficient as possible. We have only asked for donations when absolutely necessary and we have 'reluctantly' used Google search for Ad revenue (charity funds) since that is what most people use. The problem with having Google (or any other for-profit search) is that it doesn't fit with our mission. Isara means "freedom" and we can not be truly free until we are completely independent. We must create our own search and offer something unique to the search experience. We think Isara can do that so we're starting now, with hopes of having a small but 'functional' search ready for you in late 2007 or early 2008.

NO revenue from web traffic (your visits and clicks) will be used for this project. Equipment will be donated or purchased using donations specifically for this project. As always, your visits to Isara will benefit the less fortunate.

The entire process will be documented in a blog over at, you guessed it, IsaraBLOG. That is, once we decide on a good code name for the project. Got any ideas?

Well, I think we can all come up with the first in a series.
IsaraSEARCH. Smiley

Okay, so now that that's out of the way, let's move to something a bit more original.

IS-IT (or ISIT) - (Isara Searchable Internet Technology)
Um, whats the for free. I found "bplòt bplòy", but you live there, so maybe there's something else. Then again, that's a long word.
OKay, my coffee isn't finished, so I'm useless right now.

Wait, project code names are always real words... we should call it project "Grasshoper" lol maybe not. I love having animals for code names...

"Blue rabbit", "White gazelle"

On a serious note, ISIT sounds pretty good IMO.

So, who is part of the project PK? I don't think you're going to try to pull this off on your own are you?

Blue rabbit? ha! lol Grin But "blue" in the name is cool.

For now it's a team of one. But we'll soon bring in someone who can setup the cluster of PCs that we are in the process of getting. The system will be using Linux (same as Google). I know absolutely nothing about Linux, so I'll be stepping back and letting the experts take over.

ISIT is good because it sounds like WHAT IS IT?  Cheesy

What about Code Name: Blueman? Or Bluebird? Birds are a sign of freedom.

Actually I was thinking more like Where ISIT, but what works too.

IsaraBlue? Oooo, I like that. We could do a whole blue color scheme. Hmmmm.

Gosh dog it! Looks like IBM has a lot of supercomputer projects with "Blue" in the title.

Back to the drawing board. Sad

Since it is in the elaboration phase, you need to give it a name which will not give away your ultimate plan to the competition. How about Acorn? It doesn't imply a search engine is in the works (oops, did I say that?). Ok, it is NOT a search engine. Ah geez, I think I gave it away anyway. Doh!

I still like Acorn.

In case some of you don't know, we have a long history of squirrel fascination here.

I'm totally 100% for Acorn!

If you put two acorns together, tip tp tip, wouldnt the blue man outline be formed in relief?  Sort of?   Cheesy

And incidentally, I have a beautiful oak tree of some kind right outisde my  backdoor with these gorgeous gnarled knots protruding out the trunk. Its filled with squirrels, sometimes five at a time.  I wrote about one of them in my blog, at "you guessed it, IsaraBlog.com/thartley"  LOL!

Hmm, I like it, but I think maybe the acorn stem is to long. That's my personal opinion.

The stem goes up about the same height as the top of the tree on the other side.  But for an acorn, it does look a bit long-stemmed.

But I sure do like the look of it overall!

I agree, the stem is WAY too long. Should be more of a nub. But other than that, I LOVE the name ACORN and I think you should not only use it as the code name, but should keep it for the final name. It's unique, it's clever, it's memorable.

Now we just gotta think up a good acronym for it....

Ok, guess we need to think about it a little more Smiley

The people have spoken and I have heard you loud and clear. The stem has been trimmed!

I also added some white to the tree because the acorn has white highlights.

Cheesy A small acorn can grow into a mighty Oak Tree. Let's do it!

I agree with Larry, we should keep it for our final name. Smiley
