Okay, so I've been giving this some thought for a couple weeks now.  Finally decided to put the idea out here and see what you guys thought.  Maybe some of you would like to do this.  I thought it might be fun and productive for those interested to come up with creative ways to spread the word about Isara and help get the word out about the site.

I was having dinner in a little coffee shop this evening and right near the restrooms was this huge community bulletin board.  Anyone can put what they want up there.  So, when I go back this weekend to get my coffee and bagel breakfast, I'm going to put something up on that board about Isara.  Then I thought about how many other places have similar bulletin boards.

Which made me think about the fact that someone with some graphic design skills could come up with a great .pdf brochure for us to print out.  I could leave some at the local libraries where there are TONS of free brochures and stuff.  Drs office waiting rooms....I could just happen to leave one or two in amongst thier old magazines.  Smiley  Any other ideas for a grass roots campaign?

So, maybe I am the only one....

I've seen these type bulletin boards before and thought of this too, but have never done anything. Definietly a grass roots effort to promote a webpage.

I came up with a quicky example I'll email you and PK since I don't have a program on my computer to really deal with layouts. It's a Microsoft Word doc instead *groan*. Smiley

If Pk says it's cool, tweaks it, and maybe posts it on the link to us page or a pass the word page, then maybe all of us could find a bulletin board.

Extra incentive PK: I live within 30 minutes of 4 colleges. One is a liberal arts college, home of Many Activists... Smiley

LOl! I already emailed PK my sample, I wasn't nearly as creative as that ZeroG. I did a graphic with "Help the world for free!"

More coffee would definitely help... Smiley

Okay guys, I've been waiting to do something like this, and quite a few other things (hint, hint) until PK sent me some "official" graphics. I've got all the software to do whatever you want. If you want to send me a doc or and idea or both, (or better yet post it here) I'm more than willing to volunteer the time to make any media you need happen. Smiley Keep up the great ideas, guys!

We should proably point them to http://isara.org as that is
less commercial and more inline with what isara is about,
and more indicative of a grassroots organization.

I think it's a great idea! Wish I was back in the states so I could help rally some teams. It's hard asking others to do all the work. Sad Give me through the weekend and I'll get you a nice PDF of a brochure tht you all can print. I'll also get Hunter the sticker graphic and he can print up a couple hundred to send to any of the teams.

Can't comment on everything that was said because I must go work on something. But I like all of your ideas (grassroots, colleges, isara.org). Let's do it!

LOL! Right, like we do "ALL" the work. PLease! I think everyone here sees only a little of the real work you do everyday. Maybe I'm just speaking for myself (though I doubt it), but we all enjoy finding ways to make Isara better, to get it's name out there. I know I personally am as committed to making Isara a household name as I am to seeing my company become a national influence. You make us proud PK, don't get all sad just because we want to make you just as proud of us. Smiley

More things to catch people's eye...

Or the Homepage icon (the small house) with a bunch of people
in the front yard (like coming to your house for help).

Some more headlines:

. Do you have a mouse problem?

. Click here for a good time.

. Do friends only know you by your avatar?

. Do friends only know you by your screenname?

. Are you a pro-surfer, but have never seen the ocean?

. Welcome, soccerchick93!

. Lets go to Candy Mountain.

all those above could lead into...

. We need you.

. You are one of us.

. You can help for free.

. Your clicks can help.

. Shun the non-believers.

Then bust into the details of the website, what isara does and how it raises money from your addiction/habit/past time/free time/good times online/fun times online.

Okay people...we have some kind of momentum on this thing as far as intention.

PK will try to have a printable brochure up this weekend or early next week.

Hunter-are you making some kind of a sticker or decal?

Ginafish has a brilliant idea for a tear-off sheet to take the website address with ya if you are out shopping and dont have a pen right nearby.

Anybody else got any creative ideas?  I like the witty slogans and would be willing to print my own t-shirt with a few of them on it.  If we want to target some energetic young people, then I shall study them this weekend.  That's right folks, I will go to THE MALL.  *gasp*  For those who dont know, the mall is one of the outer rings of my personal hell.  But for you, I will go, hang out by trendy t-shirt shops and study the beasts' behavior and comments to find what might be "cool" in t-shirt attire. heh...  But I already want one that says "Shun the unbelievers"  Grin  If you have a printer that can handle the iron-on transfer paper, you can make your own t-shirts.  Give them as gifts. haha!!!

Ack! My brother in law, my husband, and a few other middle age men...going around say "Shhhuunnnnnnnaa the nonbeliever." If all us old people like it, it must be horribly unhip! Lol!

You go, Terri! To the Mall! I feel for ya. Stop by the Gap for me, K? Get a tee for me, hehe...Oh! And one of those big soft pretzels if they have them....And get something engraved. Those silver shops could engrave Isara on a flask for ya! After being in the mall, you're gonna need one! hehe Wink Cheesy And whenever you are taking a swig, it'd be like advertising Isara!  Grin

Right now I have the ability to print out static window decals like the one in my gallery ( http://www.isara.com/comp...temid,166/?g2_itemId=6313 )

I'll warn everyone, they aren't commercial quality, but both of the decals I have on my car are doing very well. I'm looking at trying to find an inexpensive place to get some professional vinyl decals done, but until then, its all I can do. I'm still working to make the process better. I'm hoping to be able to put up the funds to purchase the professional ones sometime soon, then I figured a dollar donation might be the best way to go, to recover the cost so that more can be made. Anyone think that's a good idea? Always open to suggestions.

Here's a sub-suggestion (did I just invent a term there?)  Once you do whatever you choose to do, (place a decal in a window, or tack up a notice on a board, or leave some brochures) grab your phone and snap a pic to post here of how Isara is being let loose on the world.   Grin

Great idea, thartley! It might also help motivate others to do it too. Like peer-pressure, but good peer-pressure. Grin

Ok, here's the designs for the handouts/flyers, a tear-off sheet for bulletin boards, and a 2" x 2" sticker printed on either white or clear paper. All files are PDFs with a size of 8.5" x 11".

Flyers (you or Kinkos will need to make 4 cuts - see sample):
1mb PDF - http://www.isara.org/images/isara_flyers.pdf

Tear-Off Sheets (make cuts between url addresses - see sample):
2mb PDF - http://www.isara.org/images/isara_tear-offs.pdf

Stickers (many cuts to make, guides provided - see sample):
300kb PDF - http://www.isara.org/images/isara_stickers.pdf

Thank you to everyone for wanting to get the word out. Don't forget that each person you get to visit Isara will be helping. We don't receive a lot of visitors right now so every extra person you reach will make a big difference. Now go out there and sell! Sell! SELL!!! Go TEAM ISARA!!!!

woohoo!!  Thanks, PK!  My goal this weekend is to get something hung up in at least two places.  I declare that as my goal because it means I get to go to two different coffee shops this weekend.  Cheesy

Pictures will be posted of the deed.   Grin

I want stickers!

Wow, I know that I can't post much anymore (way to much work to do, and very little time) but you are moving and shaking your way right along! This site looks awesome! And all the projects that you have going on, I'm very impressed! I wish I could be on here more, and lend my support, but I can't. I'll post when I can, and I look forward to reading more about the projects that you have up and running!
