Does anyone know if it's possible to set firefox to just auto-refresh a web-page every minute?

Not sure. But I hope you're not thinking of doing that so your Isara page counter will go higher and higher. lol We need real visits, not automated fake ones.

I think I know why he's asking. At least I'm having an issue that he might be having... About a month ago, I began to notice that after I would type a reply, go to the home page, and it might be 10 minutes or so before it would refresh the list of forum topics. If I go to another website, look around, come back, refresh the Isara page, it might still appear as if there have not been any new posts, but if click "unread posts", the true value will show up. I have noticed it a little on hubby's Window Vista with Firefox, but primarily on the Mac with Firefox. That makes me think it wasn't a mac update but rather a firefox or isara issue.

Is your hubby logged in when you notice the update problem? The reason I ask is because the only time I've seen the site not update quickly was when I wasn't logged in, and that's because Isara has a cache system in place that only works for visitors who are not logged in. Basically, it stores the homepage for quick access and updates itself every 10 minutes (unless you click "shift+refresh"). But if you're logged in you should see the site update itself immediately. Unfortunately, if I can't duplicate the problem on this end then it's difficult to fix.

Usually, I'll log in on his computer and yes, even then it will do it. I'm not bothered too much by it, and I don't know if this is the same thing Stasven is experiencing. I'll chew my fingers in eager anticipation of what Stasven's difficulty is...

*blushes* Aww shucks!
Seriously though, is there a difference between refreshes and 'click' visits?

No difference in the eyes of the counter. But when a person auto-refreshes a lot it doesn't help Isara at all. It only puts a strain on our servers and gives us inaccurate statistics. We can't approach businesses to sponsor our charity projects if we show them statistics that are 90% auto-refreshes. lol

I don't know about Firefox, but Opera can refresh whenever you like and I've never had the problem Stasven and Ginafish are having. Curious.
Seems Firefox missed the boat on this one. You need....
Edit: Sorry, I can't help you all on this one.

Hunter can help (and often does) but he was kind enough to remove the link. That way we don't have a lot of people auto-refreshing the homepage. What a mess that would be. Thanks, Hunter.
Also, Hunter verified the problem Ginafish is having and, after he pointed it out to me, I was able to see it too (Told you all I was an idiot. Now do you believe me?)
We might have narrowed it down to the "cache system" I mentioned earlier. The new template homepage doesn't handle logins/logouts so it thinks everyone is a newbie. lol Which means it shows the cached page (for faster delivery). I turned off the cache feature. Please let me know if any of you see the problem again. (Maybe post and then quickly goto the homepage and see if it shows up.)

I wouldn't say you're an idiot. I wouldn't have noticed it if it wasn't for the fact that I had to open a new page for my isara homepage right after I posted. Hopefully we'll get it sorted out for you all soon. (by we I mean PK.)

I'm posting and going to the homepage to see if it shows up. However, I want to point out that I've been having this issue for a month, not just with the start of the new template. I can't recall the last time Firefox updated itself to tell you if it correlated with that, or some tweaking PK did.

A month? Now I'm really confused as to what's causing it. AGHHHH!!!!! Let's see if turning off the cache feature does anything. Cross your fingers.

It seems to have resolved with the cache feature turned off. Now if only the front page didn't tell me I had missed folding 67 loads of laundry... Big Hugs for fixing the refresh!
