Dear Confused in Hoboken,
My mentor once told me, back in the early 1950's, "If you think everybody hates you, you're probably wrong. The only person that hates you is yourself and you're just projecting those feelings onto everyone else." But he turned out to be a quack and opium addict. His license was revoked and he ended up swimming out to sea one day, never to return.
Everybody doesn't hate you. You're just being paranoid. (I hate when people do that!) I mean, the world has 6 billion people. It's impossible for every person to hate you. My guess is you've only met about one hundred people in your life and, if all those people hate you, then that means there's still another 5,999,999,900 people that don't hate you because they don't know you ...yet. Right?
Also, you buy things, so I am sure stores or the telephone and electric company love you. And what about animals? I'm sure puppies are happy to see you.
Even if people do hate you, it just means you haven't met the right people yet. Hang in there Confused in Hoboken.

Perhaps he has openly insulted everyone in public several times. Of course he must venture often, to make sure he gets those newly-borns and almost-deads.  So perhaps everyone does hate him, you never can be too sure...  |
