Been listening to some performers play the Theremin, which is basically the first electronic musical instrument invented way back in the 1920's. Pretty amazing stuff.

A Gnarls Barkley cover performed on the theremin.

How about some music from Amelie. Grin

And a professional performing and explaining the thermin for TED.

Thanks PK, the sound is incredible! It involves a lot of controlled hand movement. Cheesy

Wow! That's beautiful and weird. Cheesy I didn't get how the person in the picture was making any music b/c all he was doing was moving his hand around in the air. Cheesy Thanks for the "how it's done" video. Smiley

I suggest anyone thats interested in Thermain based music to check out the documentary "Theramin An Electric Odyssey" its great and it explains the whole story behind the instrument etc. I plan on building one of my own someday. I have been shooting artists interviews for a artists group here in nashville and this guy pulls out a thermain he built using a cigar box it was great i couldnt beleive it and wasnt expecting to see a thermain that day haha!

Also fans of early Sci-fi and horror films will recognize the eerie sounds these things can produce Smiley

Theremin! whoa.  The greatest Thereminist (is that a real word?) was Clara Rockmore, and I see that her music is now available on iTunes. It was music written specifically for the theremin, so it demonstrates the instrument's great range.

Clara Rockmore also is available to listen to on youtube. Smiley "Requiebros"

Cheesy I just watched "Across the Universe" a movie that is set to Beatles songs, and found this theremin tune.

I have always wanted to learn the Theremin.  If I can ever find the time and cash, I'd definitely want to.

Whoa. Hint of the day: just copy and paste the number-letter series in the end of the video url's and put them inside the [youtube]-tags.

Now how bout that reward?

If you guys have any audio software, you can download a free Theremin plugin here:
http://www.spacenoah.com/...reevstplugin-theremin.htm

It's awesome. It's really easy to create your own Theremin music without spending a ton of cash.
