Are there any local bands in your area that you think could really make it, or you're just plain into?  Post a few names here, cause I'm sure everyone hear could do to check out some local music or whatnot.

I was looking at Las Vegas, and there happen to be a few bands that I threw on my mp3 player.  Vegas has quite a few bands that made it into the big time (Panic! At The Disco, The Killers)  My favorite of them, at this particular moment, is Kid Deposit Triumph.  They've definitely got a hardcore element to them, so be wary if that's not your thing.  However, they are one of the few rock bands today that can really sing.  Give them a listen.

Yeah, he's a beast.  He went with my band to the recording studio, and he just makes any drumset sound excellent.  He was sound checking the drums for us and he clocked in 12db higher than my drummer.  You can feel the air come out of the bass drum across the room when he plays.

 Shocked   Cool

I couldnt tell you if there were any local bands here in Nong Khai, but right around the corner from the ILC when I am riding my bike home at night, there are two or three guys sitting out on the sidewalk, chillin' and playing acoustic guitar and singing.  The seem like they could be right at home in Margueritaville.   Cheesy

There were a lot of those types were I used to live in New Orleans.  It was all about classic rock and that type of thing, so it was cool going to a festival and just listening to a bunch of cover bands.  Really chill.

Local bands, eh? Well here's one called PaskaJänis (S**tRabbit), very beautiful music. Very. Just press the button with the word kuuntele next to it to hear some skillful playing and touching lyrical work.

Well that's all well and good, but do you have anything heavy?

We had a little local band called Limp Bizkit.   Grin

For heavy metal in the vein of death metal, we have spawned (heh!) Crypteria.

Heavy, eh? I guess this old rap group from my hometown called Raptori is pretty brutal. They sold like platinum back in the early 90's. Then they broke up because the second album only sold gold. Then they made a brief comeback in 2000 and as they'll do a comeback every 10 yeas their next comeback will take place in 2010. You should take them as seriously as possible.

Here's two videos, one older and one newer:

It's a parody of this video by the way (it's called Freestyler, by Bomfunk MC's).

I'm afraid to say that I dont really know where the name Limp Bizkit came from....I should look that up.  That's kinda like having a band named Soggy Waifher.

That was actually just a failed attempt at sarcasm. But the name, hmm. I guess being a nu metal band, it's just cool to have name that doesn't make sense and even cooler to have a z in the name.

Most of our "local bands made good" were of the southern rock genre....Lynyrd Skynyrd, Molly Hatchet  (does ANYBODY here remember Molly Hatchet?).... I dont know what the kids are listening to now at home as far as local music goes.

(What age group does "kids" fall into anyway?)  Smiley

In my experience it totally depends on the age of the one who uses the word. To a 70-year-old a 50-year-old is a kid. Apparently.

My guitar class teacher is actually in a well known band here in Puerto Rico. He's actually the drummer for the band. Their latest album was released in 2006. I believe the vocalist is a is also a teacher, a math teacher actually. They had a reunion on a recent rock festival.
