Does anyone remember this "situation" in the 90's?  It was kinda like when Coca-Cola came up with "New Coke".  Poor guy, but I'm so curious that I think I'll visit the Guilt-Free Shopping and see if I can get the Chris Gaines album.

Hard to believe.  I wonder if he had established himself as a Gaines-esque musician to start and crossed over to country instead of the other way around, would it have been different.  Probably.  Chris Gaines was created as a character in a movie Brooks was co-producing called The Lamb, but after the marketing disaster of pre-releasing the soundtrack, the movie got indefinitely shelved.

I remember that. He even performed on SNL, when Garth was hosting. It's like when Prince changed his name to that Wingding thing. But this is "The Artist formerly known as Garth."

Garth has a great song called Free. If you ever want to feel good, just listen.

Can't remember any of his Chris Gaines music.

Well, the only thing I can get on Youtube is a wonderful song called Drifting Away that is set to clips of Brokeback Mountain.  Kinda unbelievable that THAT voice is Garth.  Well, it isnt.  Its Chris, but you know...   Wink

I'll look for Free.  Smiley

Okay people....Garth took a wrong turn in Nashville.  He should have had the Chris Gaines career from the get-go.  I just got his Chris Gaines Greatest Hits cd from a seller on Amazon (hope Isara still gets the commission) and it is fantastic.  I cant believe he has this kind of range.   Shocked

Of course he's had almost nothing but jackpot as a country and slight crossover artist.  I wish there was more out there to post on Isara.  Its unbelievable.

Why must he always be the country Cat in the Hat (cowboy hat)?  He has enormous talent as a non-country artist.

Well, I have the whole Chris Gaines collection. All one of them. haha!!

Incidentally, I saw on the cable guide that Garth will be Live in Dublin (?) tonight.  If I am back by then, I might try to check it out.  He's been "retired" long enough and the country genre has relaxed a bit in what is considered to be country...so maybe he will be able to eventually re-invent himself when he re-enters the spotlight.

Edit: Partial success in finding something on YouTube.  Disregard the video aspect.  Just listen to the song.

If he's feeling creatively stifled then, sure, let him make a come back. This time, he should send all his profits to Isara though, for us being the first to suggest he re-enter the music scene. Cheesy
