Well yeah, the new album is only four or so months away so I thought we'd all gather here around this clip with new stuff to bask in the video's warm glowing warming glow.

I hope they do something like Master of Puppets or And Justice for All... but sadly that'll never happen.

Actually it will. They've said it's like a blend of ..And Justice For All and The Black Album. Also, Rick Rubin has said it's like a return to their thrash roots so I'm optimistic.

That would be worth looking forward to. I will have to check their website. Oh and will there be a sequel to that poor guy's episode there Mus? Will he ever find a way to destroy that wall?  Grin

No idea, it's not mine (sorry author). But I hope so, because that's just really sad.

I wasn't really looking forward to the new album before watching that clip. It was just kinda meh but that clip got my hopes up, might turn out to be really good. They'll have 10 songs on the album, ranging from 6 to 10 minutes in lenght. They were gonna have more but had to eliminate some of them due to limited disk space.

Well, if you can track down an old preview of St. Anger, the media were claiming that it was going to be harder, faster, and heavier than their earlier stuff, with some of them even citing specific albums such as Ride the Lightning and ...and Justice. I do believe the hype machine was working in overtime for St. Anger, which made it that much worse when it came out. Thus, I am skeptical about any kind of news about Metallica returning to their roots.

On the flip side, I've heard two songs that are reportedly going to be on the new album (they too can be found online under "Death is not the End" & "Vulturous") Death is not the End was performed live, and although it is most definitely not characteristic of their early material, and James's singing is off, it was surprisingly good (Kirk even does a solo, which I was beginning to doubt he could even do anymore).

If those songs are a sign of what's to come, I would be satisfied, but James himself recently said in an interview that they are going back to the old school stuff, so I'll keep my fingers crossed.

Actually neither of the "new songs" will be on the album, just some riffs from here and there. Or so I heard. Back when St. Anger came out I wasn't into Metallica so I have no knowledge or experience of the hype thingie. I guess it could be like that this time too but here's hoping for the best. Well, in a few months we'll know.

In case you didn't know already, the song The Day That Never Comes is out:

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/v/-UNfNpjWz-Y&rel=1" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/v/-UNfNpjWz-Y&rel=1</a>

I think it's an ok song, nothing special but not bad either. I liked it more the second time i listened to it though. James's voice sounds a bit odd. A pretty Load-ish song in the beginning but after the lyrics it gets more thrashy. Also, I have a thing with single releases, I never seem to like them as much as the rest of an album so I'm still somewhat optimistic.

Oh and they also played Cyanide live at some gig:

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/v/UzhTe5grIoU&rel=1" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/v/UzhTe5grIoU&rel=1</a>

Again, sounds like something from Load or Reload, so I guess we'll have a hard rock album again. Though there is supposed to be three Battery-esque fast songs. Too bad I'm not really into hard rock, I would've preferred a proper metal album. Oh well.
