Here's the latest Isara News: Isara Hits the Road. At the end of October I will begin a two week motorcycle trip around Thailand to raise awareness (and money) for the Helmets for Students program. I will stop at schools along the way and speak with students about protecting their life, family, and country. The journey will be more than 1,500 miles (same as Houston to Los Angeles, but on a moped). There will be an offical announcement soon. Red Cross Phase Two. Some of you might remember the Red Cross project we did last June. What we didn't tell you is there's more to be done. Yes, the main building looks beautiful, but the wall surrounding the entire property hasn't been renovated and it looks real bad. The wall/fence is the first thing people see from the main street so this coming weekend (Oct. 14th-15th) Isara will have 12-15 students paint it. Because we're too lazy to do it ourselves. lol Playtime. While donating helmets a few weeks ago, we visited one school that really impressed us with their love for students and for education. The school needs playground equipment so Isara will be donating some before the new term starts Oct. 30th. FYI: Your Isara visits/searches, for the month of September, are paying for the equipment. Thank you! Isara Scholarships. We're still waiting on the two colleges to provide us with the names (and essays) of the students who qualify for the scholarships. Once we have the essays we will decide which two students receive scholarships for a two year college degree. Helping Burma Refugee Children. This project is one we are very interested in doing but, because the 800 children are inside refugee camps, it's very difficult to reach them and we must be careful the supplies don't end up in the wrong hands, where everything is sold for profit (very common problem in refugee camps). Our friend Chris is trying to figure out the best way to get supplies to these children. We hope it can be completed by the end of the year. That's it for now. Thanks for continuing to support Isara with your visits. Keep on surfing and keep on helping! pk

Can it feel any better to be a part of this community? I'm kind of excited about your moped trip. I keep hearing The Love Generation song going thru my head!

Wow, just wow.
One question: Is the money for all this coming only from Isara's visits/searches??? If that's the case, I'm shocked, I would've never thought you could raise so much money from a website...
Congrats on the projects also.

thartley - I hear the song too. But I'm WAY too lazy to ride a bike that far. facugaich - The road trip is an Isara fundraiser project so Isara won't pay for it. The expenses will be paid by me or Mastercard . But "hopefully" it will raise about $2,500 for Isara projects. The Red Cross, Playtime project, and one scholarship are paid for by Isara (your visits). The second scholarship was donated by a generous man named Barry. The refugee project is BIG and we'll probably need to have local Thai businesses donate much of the supplies. Please remember that helping doesn't cost a lot over here. The Red Cross project will only be about $200, the playground equipment is $150, and a two year college degree is only $250. All of those projects will be paid for by your visits. Right now we're not receiving many visitors but we're still able to do a few projects. Imagine if we could get ten times the visitors and could start selling our own advertising, instead of getting Google's table scraps? Imagine how many projects we could do around the world. It's possible. We just need to spread the word.

Not even for a chicken facing left? I thought that might have been the reason why.

Just wanted to update everyone.
Last week Isara awarded its first college scholarship to a young man at a Technical School. We had an opportunity to meet with him and talk about his goals for the future. We couldn't be more impressed with him. Congratulations, Thom.
There will be an Isara article written about him and the scholarship later.

Update #2:
Next week we will be heading to western Thailand, to the border of Burma, where Isara will be donating a years supply of shampoo, soap, tooth brushes, and food to more than 80 refugee orphans. Our friend Chris suggested this project to us a few months ago but we're just now able to afford to do it.
I've never been to the camp before but I've heard about the conditions they live in. I only hope we're able to help enough to make a difference.

Actually, studies show that if most water has floride in it, and there is no need to use toothpaste. It just acts as a buffer for the toothbrush to do its job and helps your breath to smell fresher. And of course, the marketing departments have speciality toothpastes for sale to whiten and brighten etc...

Just got back into town from visiting the camp, which is basically a hilltop village of 20,000 displaced Burma refugees. Being inside the camp was an experience I cannot even begin to explain. But the children were very happy for everyone's support and for all the supplies, which should hopefully last them a year. Will upload some photos when we get into Bangkok on Friday. Thank you all for visiting Isara or making it your homepage. Because of you we were able to help these children. Everything was paid for by your visits and web traffic. NO donations were needed for this project. Isara works! pk P.S. Plenty of toothpaste.
