Tips for Helping Isara More

After trying to increase traffic to my own web site, I found a new discipline on the internet called Search Engine Optimization. This is a study of your web site with the goal of making your pages show up first in a web search.

It is fascinating how web site owners have shared their thoughts on what makes search engines tick. Checkout these search engine ranking factors.

Briefly looking at the posts in the Feel Good Forum, there are a few things we can do to get Isara at the top of the search list of topics we talk about here. If someone is searching the web for something we are talking about, they will come here before they go on to finding out more. But their brief visit here could be all they need to see what great things are being done here.

So, I would like to suggest the following when making a post.

1) Make the title of the topic a good description of it's contents. Here an example. KitKat smartly made the title "tech support funny lines" and low-and-behold, a search for that phrase shows her post at the TOP of the list in the google search. This works because the Topic/Subject appears as the title in the top of the browser.

2) When inserting a link in a post, make the text of the link be descriptive, as opposed to the actual link. To do this you type in a descriptive text like "tech support funny lines" and then highlight the phrase. Then select the Insert Hyperlink button above (the globe). Then click between the l and the right square brace in the tag you just inserted and type = an pasted the URL.

3) Avoid using the isaraurl links. Isaraurl links are best for chat or e-mail where word wrap can destroy long URLs. If you use the descriptive text in 2), the long URL is kind of hidden and not subject to word wrap.

4) If you mention some subject we are talking about here, in another forum outside of Isara, make the descriptive text in that article match the Topic/Subject in the Feel Good Forum.

I thought that A) I would bump this thread, and B) this this idea fit here.

PK, I have found that, many times, great links to Digg and the new one for the GreatNewsNetwork that would allow Isarans to help further awareness of Isara stay solely in the thread they were given in.

I personally think that there should be some place special and easily accessible to all new members so that our name can better advertised by their supporting clicks. Like a "Help Isara" link.

I realise this isn't exactly a well thought out idea, but I wanted to say it before I forgot it.

I have to say, Joomla 1.5 is exceptional for SEO when SEF urls are on.
