That's a great idea, Ginafish.  Since she's convinced we're having a boy AND a girl, we'll see what we have and then get the other really quick.

Oh and I agree with you on the contractions.  We're ready now... but he didn't act concerned 2 months ago either!

And about waiting until the 15th... I think I'll let you ask her! Grin

To save you the pain of shopping right after the new baby arrives, maybe you could go ahead and buy one, look for a purple or yellow outfit so it's an either/or doll. You could even see if your wifes hospital bag (which I hope she has packed) has room for the 'new baby' so she could get her new baby on the same day. Grin

And I'd ask your wife about the 15th, but I'm sure she'd rather have the baby earlier! Cheesy Cheesy

I don't know whether to laugh or scream at this article! My mother gave birth in a hospital, but both times, she was unattended when it happened. I can't even imagine!!

I can't even imagine. How would you explain away to yourself the baby kicking? "Hmmm must be bad gas" Huh I can understand not missing 'that time of the month', telling yourself you have stomach flu..for three or four months..weight gain...but I can never understand not feeling feet in your rib cage?

I've never understood how you could be pregnant and not know it either. Your body does too much weird stuff - like the weight gain! I was at the doc this morning and have added another 9 lbs!!  Embarrassed I am slim to begin with, so gaining some isn't really going to hurt me, but I feel very strange being told you've gained "x" lbs. I love to jog so I'm confident I can lose the extra once the baby arrives, but right now it doesn't make me feel so great. I try not to eat all the time, even tho I'm hungry ALL THE TIME! lol...it's a lovely cycle. What's a girl to do?

Hey!  Thank you for remembering us, Ginafish!  This is the first chance I had to come on here and give y'all an update.

At 12:13pm on Feb 14th, we had a healthy 8lb 3oz, 20.5 inch baby GIRL. Grin  We named her Emma.  Mom and baby are both doing fine!  She had trouble delivering our first child (she was 9lb 1oz), so her doctor took extra precautions this time and everything turned out great!

Okay... I think I figured out IsaraPIX, so here are a few pictures.

Here's Emma with mom at just 30 minutes old:

And these were from yesterday:

Big sister holding Emma for the first time:

I hope everyone else is doing okay!

Congratulations Chad! You and your wife sure do turn out the cuties! Grin I hope you always cherish your kids.

I noticed in the first pic the hospital blanket. The classic pink and blue with white. Smiley I worked at a hospital prior to 'retirement' (aka birth of kids) and when I had a shower, a girl in the housekeeping department snuck me about 60 blankets that were being thrown out. We used them for changing pads, swaddling, and now we use them for runny noses! Long Live the Hospital blanket!

Thank you all!  I REALLY wanted to swipe a few of those blankets... but we didn't.  We do have a bunch of cloth diapers that we use for similar things.  You really can't have too many of them!

Cool name, Hayden... but it's already official.  Her middle name is Faith.  Our older daughter's middle name is Grace.

Thank yall!  Naming is such a big ordeal for us.  Our first daughter was almost 48 hours old before we settled on a name.  We had one in mind, but it didn't fit her at all once we saw her.  It's got to be right since it's forever!  I still haven't gotten used to "Emma".  If we ever have a boy, it will be easier... we've had a family name picked out for a LONG time.

I can't say from personal experience how miserable those last twelve weeks will be... but I will be thinking about yall!  My wife got the flu about a week before she was supposed to be induced... talk about not being able to breathe!

Unfortunately, I'm in the beginning stages of a cold. Boo. I'd rather just have the cold than feel how I do when it's coming on. (tiredness, watery eyes, etc) I usually get over colds pretty quick so I'm hoping this one has a short life.

I went to the doctor today and had another ultrasound. This baby is still stubborn!  Wink It's still breech so it was very hard to see much of anything, let alone the important stuff. I most likely won't have another u/s so looks like this baby will be a total surprise! Otherwise, everything else looked great, so I can't ask for any more than that.

According to getamanda, Graham is making the shape of the Isara logo many times per hour at this point in the pregnancy.

Shocked Ya learn something new all the time!

Do you girls think that what you eat affects the taste pallet of your unborn child, even though, technically the baby isn't tasting the food you eat since it's all just particles floating in through the umbilical cord?

I went through a phase while I was pregnant with my son where I ate a lot of apples dipped in peanut butter, blts' with tall glasses of tomato juice, and a lot of curry chicken. He doesn't like beef hardly at all now, and Loves vegetables and fruits. He'd rather have celery than a candy bar.

I don't remember what I ate with my daughter very well, but it must have been bland, b/c bland food is all she likes. Other than chocolate. She'd have a chocolate I.V. if she could.

I thought the above article was interesting on the hormones in beef aspect. It'll be interesting to see a follow up study in Europe.

I saw this article this morning and I dunno, I have my doubts about just how true it is for all cases. My mother-in-law is a big beef eater and I got pregnant RIGHT away. Like bam! So my husband has no problems there...either that, or I'm really fertile so I make up for it.  Wink As far as what you eat while preg effecting your child's taste in food, I think there may be something to it. I've heard too many stories like yours, Gina, where the kids really like to eat what their mom had while pregnant. And I read somewhere, online or in a book or something, that babies in the womb actually can taste the foods their mom eats, to an extent. I'm a big spicy food lover, and have continued to be throughout my pregnancy, so it'll be interesting to see what happens with that.

Pepperland67 - Great to see you posting again. I thought maybe you already had the baby and that's why you haven't been around. Be sure and let us know when he/she arrives so we can post a "Congratulations!!!"

I've got a strange question for you mothers to be.  We were talking the other day and it was mentioned that pregnant women crave dirt. And the Thai person in our group agreed. She said it has something to do with the nutrients in the soil. Since I was the only male in the group I thought maybe they were pulling my leg. But after some online searching I found many references to it (and even laundry detergent). So have any of you craved strange things while pregnant? (pickles and ice cream don't count!)

It's called "Pica". Dr.'s think it is the bodies way of getting nutrients missing from the woman's diet. It's not only pregnant women who do this, other people do too, but it's more common with pregnant women.

Pepperland, isn't your due date in May, same as GetAmanda's?

I think the other Amanda is due May 19th, I'm due May 17th. But, since this is my first, I'm kinda expecting to go past that. And yep, I've heard about dirt cravings, although I've never had any myself. I guess it can be a sign that you're not getting the nutrients you need in your diet, and obviously you're not suppsed to actually eat some of the dirt. I really haven't had any weird cravings, I just want to eat A LOT more of the foods I already love! I've gained about 42 lbs so far  Embarrassed which is shocking to me. But everyone tells me that you'd never guess I've gained that much, and I had some room to put on a few to begin with, so I must be carrying it well. I'm pretty tall too, and I was in shape before getting pregnant, love to jog & all that. That's one thing I'm really looking forward to resuming after the baby comes.

Had my appt today, everything went fine. Only gained 1 pound...yay! My doc found the heartbeat right away and said that after my appt on the 24th I'll start coming in every week. Makes it seem really close! Oh, and I also signed off on the circumscison (sp?) consent forms. Don't know if it's a boy, but just needed to sign & be ready. In other news, I got a nasty cold from my mom over the weekend, so I'm being whiny about it. She & I went with my friends to an Eric Clapton concert, which was amazing, but I think I spent too much time cooped up in the car with her. (2 of my friends are now also sick) I just had a cold a couple months ago and was really hoping I wouldn't be sick again before the baby comes. Oh well, I'm just trying to drink a lot of water and keep my nose blowed.  Wink My belly is really starting to pop out there too - people keep saying "oh! you're FINALLY starting to show!", which kinda makes me want to punch them b/c I've felt this belly for awhile now, thanks. My shower is the 22nd, I can't wait.

'Finally starting to show' at month 8 is a compliment. Smiley Like, wow...you've kept such a girlish figure for so long, and even your backside stayed in proportion, but now...wow...I can see you are ready to pop! Isn't it beautiful how people can compliment you and stick their foot in their mouth at the same time? Roll Eyes

Sorry to hear you have another cold! Now that you've got the circumcision decision over with, have you figured out all the other stuff, like bottle/breast, staying home/going to work, pacifier/over my dead body, cloth/disposable, drug free birth/pain killers please and all those other fun questions??

How about you Amanda? Got all those big questions sorted? And what's up with pb mayo? Is that legal in Texas? Grin

Should I or should I not post this. Pk, if I don't make it to Thailand you know my sister got a hold of me. LOL!

My sister is a beautiful woman, but when she was pregnant she looked like a huge boat with a whale biting it's rear Grin (Oh my goodness, I hope she doesn't read this) One time, she was sitting still on the couch and she jerked up. The way she moved I thought the baby was break dancing. She said, he moved in a certain area that wasn't so comfortable for her. She started walking like a penguin. I couldn't help, but to laugh. My family did join in with me during this funny incident. She said, she'll get me back when I have my children.

Getamanda and pepperland67, I pray your labor won't be bad. My sister was in so much pain they couldn't even read it on the machine, so they gave her painkillers. You guys, she fell asleep while pushing. My brother in-law told us, he was happy they gave her the painkillers, but he was trying his best not to laugh. She was pushing and breathing, but all of a sudden you hear her slightly snoring. I think my nephew came out high as a kite, especially when you see the pictures. He has a great big smile on his face. Take care. Gbya

P.S.
I love you, sis Smiley
