I have finally realized the need to get my body back into shape and have decided to take a \"Pilgrimage To Health\". Along with taking this journey I will be keeping a blog journaling my progress and with it giving details about each day's progress. This will include what I eat each day and what exercise I do (type w/ description, weight, reps, sets, etc, etc). My goal is to provide a roadmap of how I achieved my success that some one could come along behind and follow for themself. You can check it out here: http://healthpilgrimage.blogspot.com/Come check it out and join me on my Pilgrimage. Peace, Larry

Thanks! I need this for myself, and by blogging my progress it makes me accountable to follow through. And, my hope is that others will follow along and get their bodies healthy too! Good idea on the before picture...I'll put one up soon. Thanks again, Larry (Your fellow pilgrim)

Hey Larry...I like the setup you have on the sets, reps and weights. I might give something like that a go with what I'm already doing at the gym. Not at those levels, of course. hahaha!!! But the theory, anyway.
Thanks Pilgrim... (I always feel like John Wayne when I type that)

Thanks... if you read the entry titled \"You Can Workout Hard Or Long\" it explains the process for the workout. It is all based on the intensity level so the program works at whatever level you find yourself, then as you increase in strength it grows with you.
The amount of weight isn't important except that it cause a specific expenditure of energy (intensity level).
Perhaps I got the \"pilgrim\" bit from Mr. Wayne....as he was always one of my favorites.

Wow, Larry! I must have been slacking on checking your blog! I love the way you linked the various exercises to the gif-kinda pics of how to do them. Very cool! I'm looking to change up my weight routine a little, so this may give me some ideas. I'm also maxing out on the treadmill. I know I dont need to be on it so long, like you mentioned on your blog... vary the intensity and get it over with, but I feel soooo good when I'm there. I had to stop myself at almost 50 minutes today, popping the incline from 4.0 to 8.0 at a 20 minute mile pace. I could have gone longer, but I was getting embarassed because I had seen two groups already come and go and I'm still there. I think its time to start running again. Side note: while I did indeed enjoy my forced stillness for 6 weeks, it also served to inspire me to be as fit as possible so I am never in an avoidable still state. My mom's knees and hips are so bad. I am already battling fibromyalgia, and its even serving itself up with some added spice lately. But it aint nuthin but a thang.

Yes, a very nice site. Thanks for sharing, Larry. Hopefully this will motivate others to do the same.
For about 30 years of my life I was thin. I would look in the mirror and, after the shock of seeing my face wore off, would at least feel comfortable knowing that my metabolism rate was high enough to keep me thin. But last year something happened. I started getting comments from students that I was fat. I looked in the mirror again and, sure enough, there was a visible gut. Not a beer gut because I never drink. But it was definitely a gut.
I depended on my metabolism rate to keep thin all these years. Now I'm too lazy to excerise. I've heard stories about how our bodies start to head south after the age of 30. Well it's happening and the only thing stopping my fat from going any further south (to my feet) is the belt on my pants. I have this theory that if we didn't wear belts we'd all just have huge feet. (theory pending)

(theory pending) One thing you MUST factor into your theory is the variable of male vs female. While it is probably true that the gut on a man would drift to his feet in time, causing an upwards rise in shoe sales, women on the other hand were gifted by our maker with natural pockets in the rear sometimes called \"cheeks\". These cheeks act as an overflow reservior and can hold an astonishing amount of drifting gut, enabling women to continue wearing uncomfortable spiky-heeled shoes well past her prime. *shame* And as these ballooned cheeks are, well, behind her (for lack a better word) she remains in denial for many many years.

Your comments have been noted and an amendment has been made to the theory.

If she wants cheeks, she can have mine!!! I could give 1/2 away and still have plenty!! Maybe if I had worn belts... Larry, I'm glad to follow your website, and I'll be glad to see some pics of you before and at 3 months progression.

Thanks for all the positive comments about the blog...I apologize for not keeping on it every day, but work has been hectic the past couple weeks and I am trying to make a film at the same time. I am keeping all the information from each workout and posting it every couple days. In a couple weeks when my \"regular\" life settles down a bit, I'll be more vigilant about posting every day. I'll also start doing the proper aerobic plan (as I outlined early on in the blog) instead of just walking the 2 miles. It will be hard to detail what I am doing for the aerobic because the numbers will be specific to the machine I am using and my personal level of fitness, but I'll try to explain what it means so you can translate it to your particular workout/machine and current level of fitness. Also, beginning the first of June I will include details about what I am eating each day. This will serve both to show one way of eating and also as a \"daily food log\" for myself so I can see what I am really eating (when we try to remember what we ate, we usually forget about the candy bar, or the bag of chips, etc, etc) I will try to get some photos up soon, good for tracking progress. Just a side note, however..if you notice at the top of each day I post my weight and BMI and it dropped over the past week by 3 pounds and a few points off the BMI B) Again, thanks...and good luck on your journey as well!! Peace, Larry

I'll toss in an extra 15% to give you 125% support Larry. After all, you gave me your 3 pounds, the least I can do is support your effort. Really it's awesome that you are trying to be accountable for this which I'm sure gives you the extra incentive you need to keep up the good work. Now what's this film project pk is referring to? Feel free to start another thread to tell us.

I'm afraid, if I'm guessing right, and the film is for what I think it is, mum's gonna have to be the word for a few more weeks. If he discusses it, he breaks the rules of the contest and would be disqualified. Of course if I'm wrong, then tell us alllll about it!

Thanks...125%!! What will I do with all that support? I guess I'll have to succeed! You're right, the film project has to stay mum for now. All I can say is that it is for the DVXFest and the theme is Superhero. Regarding details, I am sworn to secrecy until the films are available for public review - sometime early June. I'll be sure to let y'all know when I can Peace, Larry
