 Grin The 3 hrs. simmering is what really made me curious. Won't they be really "rubbery"??  They look pretty, but what about the texture after 3 hrs.? 
In place of the tea, maybe add a little food coloring to the water! Wow! the possibilities! Cheesy
Really, who has time, nowadays, to watch a pot simmering for 3 hrs. Grin

 Shocked Wow! I just tried something similar at my friends house (Thai friend)...they had eggs that were completely black on the inside!! They were like boiled eggs, but the shells were pink and when you opened them up and cut the egg in half it looked like black glass!!! My friend told me that you make them by letting the eggs soak in some mixture (not sure what's in it) for 1-2 weeks!!!

They were very good! Grin
