Found this shot on my camera. thartley must have taken it the other day when we went to go get the helmets for an activity.

It looks as though the dog is being run over by a motorcycle, but it's actually just sleeping on the showroom floor. In Nong Khai dogs can be found EVERY WHERE. Restaurants, schools, temples, you name it. And they usually sleep during the day and party on the streets all night.

When PK says "party on the streets at night" he means roam around in packs and bark unceasingly Angry

Nick, I expect a picture of your new puppy as a contribution of something 'unique' in this thread...the puppy will be 'common' in another week or two, better make it snappy! Cheesy

Thanks, KitKat!  Smiley His name is Louie.

ZeroG, I will have you know that he voted a firm John McCain in the Republican Primary and is currently in turmoil due to the fact that the RNC Convention is being cut back until Gustav hits. Cheesy

So a couple weekends ago was my towns' equivalent of a "county fair" i guess...
My town is famous in the province and may I even say regionally for its fresh sweet corn which is available mid august to mid september most years.
Anyways the town puts on a big show  and what not for a few days as one last "hurrah" before the end of the summer.... it is called CORNFEST
I took the liberty of taking some photos of the carnival and stuff going on around town to show you guys

So yeah the town has a giant corn stalk  just off the Highway... The businesses use that little "corn-person" logo on their storefronts to show their community spirit and advertise their sales and such...
Then theres all the little corn stands that sell fresh picked corn every day and theres quite a few farming families who sell corn... my cousins, the jensens, have the largest corn operation and they sell corn as far as 600km away every day and they have these booths set up in about a 200km radius that they sell out of every day....
Then theres the midway and carnival and stuff as well as the park in the center of town with bands and shows and food vendors and all sorts of activities going on...
Thats my brother and my sister-in-law in those pictures by the way....
There are beer gardens which i really dislike but they seem to draw a lot of people.... and then fireworks to finish it off... I have photos of them too but those are for later.

Some fool spray painted this blue rubbish over it a few days ago and today someone had wiped the box clean. Sad

I'm not sure what my position is on "street art" none of the "street art" around here has enough merit to be considered art.

No I totally agree with you, most of the stuff around here are rubbish tags on street signs and some are even on people's private walls and fences. If someone's creative and uses something like a box that isn't going to interfere with anything then I'm fine with that.

I always find it rather amusing when I'm standing on the station on the morning waiting for the train and when it arrives you see these colorful graffiti's painted across it. It's not exactly nice for the train company who will have to wash it away but personally I wouldn't mind if they left it there.

Southern Alberta is largely irrigated farmland and the network is about 300km square of irrigation... anyways not a huge amount of land in North America is so heavily irrigated... anyways I thought I would post a couple sunsets integrating the irrigation system into it.

I know I promised these last night but I forgot. Here they are, taken in my backyard:

I didn't do any retouching or color correction because they are so brilliant in their natural state. Also, an update, IsaraPIX is back up!

Those are some funky clouds. Funky indeed. I think both M3RL1N's and Nick's first pictures are the best ones of their respective sets, I just like the contrast of dark and bright.

WOW!! I mean, seriously... WOW!!!!  Great shot, Larry.

Did you happen to hear any booming voices from beyond or any music, like a harp, while taking that photo?

It is the epitome of a "beautiful sunset".

I heard the silent sounds of peace ... it was a beautiful morning to be certain.

And just to be clear, that is a sunrise, not a sunset. I did adjust the exposure in photoshop, perhaps I darkened it thus creating the illusion of a sunset. I'll have to play with it later and see if I can make it appear more sunrise-y, perhaps I'll get two great shots out of one Smiley

But either way, glad you enjoyed it ... the picture does not do it justice. It was absolutely beautiful in person.

I like how it has such a definite line of blues and oranges. Smiley I always enjoy Larry's pictures. They all have a "Wow!" factor to me. Cheesy

Thanks Gina ... I really appreciate that.   But for the record, for every "wow" photo I post here, there are plenty of dud's that get relegated to the recycle bin Smiley
