I am enjoying the unicorn very much, and since I have signatures turned off, appreciate the shout out for Mr. Spidey. Cheesy Yer welcome.

And since everyone was showing off flowers, here's what the fields looked like up till a couple of weeks ago. Full of yellow flowers. Weeds, I suppose, but what is a weed to one man is a beautiful flower to another.

Very pretty photo of your yellow field of wild flowers.  We're in such a drought here now, we don't have any wild flower fields.
I'll enjoy your field of flowers until we get some much need rain for our fields.  Grin  Thanks Ginafish!!

Well, why we are on the topic of flowers here are some pictures I took on my property in March of this year:

And here are some of the creek and waterfall on my property:

And finally, a couple shots of the small snow storm we had in January of this year:

I would have posted full sized images but there were too many and this post would have been HUGE. So click on the tumbnails to see the bigger pictures, as some of them can only be appreciated in a larger size.

By the way, we haven't had rain in a while so the creek is dried up. As are the flowers. All we have now are weeds, although we finally hired someone to cut them down so it still looks nice. Just not as colorful Cheesy.

Does that someone possibly look something like this?

Nick, I really liked your photos.  Your property is beautiful.  Loved seeing the moss on the waterfall and the snow.  The snow photos helped to cool my extremely hot day.

This is somewhat unique.  Interesting sign on the way to Laos.  They don't mess around.

I think they are saying that it is very dangerous to visit gambling places in Laos and the Thai police cannot help you over there.

I want to know who the Autholity's are and are they anything like our Authorities? Cheesy

On my drive to work I pass by what's known as the Mothball Fleet ... it's where our Navy stores ships that have been decommissioned. There aren't many out there right now, but it's still interesting to look at. Here's a shot I grabbed the other day:

It's in Suisun Bay and I believe is primarily from the fleet at Mare Island. This location is where the Navy stores ships that are decommissioned and are awaiting their final disposition.

Here's more information about the U.S. Navy "Mothball Fleet" or "Ghost Fleet": http://en.wikipedia.org/w..._States_Navy_ghost_fleets

Wow, Larry, that's cool! They are just sitting there in the water...and then they get rid of them? I should buy one and turn it into a private yacht where I can hold DVXUser/Isara parties! Oh...wait...I don't have enough money.

EDIT: I guess they don't get rid of them, they keep them for emergencies. Ah...well...

How could you ever recycle all that steel?   Grin   Those ships aren't ready to help anyone in that condition.  Sad  They need recycling.  Cheesy

Wow, Larry, such a contrast in your area from the sunflowers. But still a top-notch photograph. Grin

KitKat - the dismantling of ships for recycling is a very dangerous job called ship breaking and is done primarily by Asian countries. The article I linked has interesting facts about the numbers of ships dismantled and built by different countries.

Thanks Larry - your picture helped me learn something new!  Grin

Interesting link Gina. I watched a show on TV a few months ago where they showed the guys going through the process of stripping everything useable from an old aircraft carrier. Then they planned where to place explosives throughout the ship in order to get it to sink level and land upright/level on the sea floor where it would become a natural reef.

It was a tremendous amount of work, but they got a lot of useful metals from the old ship before they sunk it.

Thanks for posting the cool pictures Larry. I never think anything is unique/common in my neighborhood because I always see it. I'll look at things differently now and see if I can consider it worthy of inclusion in this thread.

To continue the ship graveyard theme, there is a beachin India where they literally beat the rivets out by hand. Someone has some good google images  of it, and some cool video of them destroying the ships. Here is a GoogleSightseeing: Indian Ship Graveyard link.

Here is a humming bird I photographed out of my home office window.  I almost stopped his fast little wings but not totally.  GWiz

This was shot with Nikon D300 with a 18-200mm Nikon zoom VR lens at full zoom, 1/320 sec, F5.6
