Thank You! So the ole GTA forum is how you found Isara, eh? I guess that's one thing you like to do in your free time then? What other sort of things do you do in your free time? I ask because I like to post topics I know people will look at. Although, I'm still wayyy lacking in the Sports area (hint, Sean?, hint)

Not that you have a lot of time to be on the net, b/c you also seem to be one of the most hard working 18 year olds I have ever come across! Thank you again for introducing yourself. Grin

Well, other than what I've mentioned, I love going for massive drives (such as this weekend, I went on a 3 hour drive up to stay away from where I am and stayed till the Sunday, and came back for another 3 hour drive). Smiley

I love the country, It's a shame there is no work up there though.

That's pretty much all. Smiley

Hi Nigel and welcome to Isara!!!  Glad you found us.  How many times have you been to Thailand and were any previous trips volunteer-related?

Do you have any of your photography hosted on the web where we can see it?

Well thats a great welcome Thank you.
I am returning to Thailand on Nov 1 to have a go at English teaching at the Baan Phu school near Roi et.
First bit of volunteer work but two years ago sponsered building a house for a Tsunami destroyed family in Sri Lanka and felt pretty good about the whole experience.
Will visit Isara at some stage on this trip
No photos on Net yet but in last couple of years have driven around Cuba, Sri lanka and Oman away from the tourists...Great people.
My big love is the wonderful Thai people and want to help here over the next few years and get away from the day to day business BS.
What I have seen so far of the Isara folk is very impressive and big ups to PK for his work
Keep in touch

Sawasdee kha, Nigel. Welcome to our Isara family.
You're coming to Roi et. That's not far from Nongkhai.
Please visit the Isara when you have free time.

Mut mee guesthouse is a decent place and the owners are super friendly.  The Ruan Thai guesthouse is good too, both places are nice and quiet too.

Hows it going guys? I discovered Isara over at GTAForums and decided I would join Isara forums and make this my homepage and make a difference. I've also put flyers all around my highly populated school and advertised it in blogs etc. and now after my persuasion the school is adding a link to Isara from our school website instead of google so whenever a student goes on the internet they will see that and most probably check it out etc. and hopefully they make it their homepage at home and use it at school instead of google.

Expect me too post regularly and stick around. Smiley

Thanks for posting, Ya Mum! And thanks for all your help informing others about this alternative.

Just curious, are you able to connect to GTAF right now? I haven't been able to access their site for about a week. What's up?

Thanks for the warm welcomes guys.

Oh and yeah GTAForums has been switched off for the moment because they are updating the server to make it run a lot smoother and are just making general updates and so on. I expected it to be back online by now but it's not so expect it to be back up and running most probably within the next 24 hours.

I live on the Gold Coast in Australia and I enjoy surfing and bodyboarding, skating, most sports (especially Rugby Union) and just hanging with friends and family. Oh and I am at the end of year 9 and I am turning 15 on the 28th of this month.

I somehow came across ISARA while surfing the web and don't remember where, but I am glad I did.  What a great idea!  I'll be sure to mention it to friends and co workers.  My Christmas shopping will be done here as well.  If anyone has the chance and would like a good book Three Cups of Tea by Greg Mortenson is a great read.  Greg Mortenson got lost on the way down from K2 and was nursed back to health and safety by a Pakistani village.  He promised them he would build them a school, and instead built over 50 schools.  Glad the internet is finally doing some good for the world Smiley
