Okay, I'll give it a whirl explaining how this goes. When you first start, the computer hides four pegs at the top and your job is to guess the correct colors and the correct order.
First try, I selected all blue. I did not get any white or black pegs, which means there is no blue peg at the top.
Second, I picked all yellow. I got one black peg, which means, right color and right spot. However, when they place white and black pegs at the side, they do not correspond with "where" the correct peg is. So now I know I need to have one yellow peg.
I start with the first space and will slide it down, until I receive another black peg. If I put the yellow in the first spot, and the peg turns white, I can assume, I still have the right color, but the first hole is incorrect.
However, as luck would have it, the yellow peg is suppose to be in the first slot. How do I know this? Because the only other color I placed is red.
Since I know only one red is correct (b/c of the black peg) I pick another color to try out the last two holes. And wow! I score another black peg. But which space is the correct space?
It's kind of a game of logic.

If you start with arbitrary colors, the number of guesses increase b/c you spend more time dealing with white pegs and what color goes where. See my example with this game. I thought I almost was going to lose!
