One time at English camp, there was a Thai teacher using a megaphone to speak to a group of parents visiting the school. Thais typically speak very quietly so it made sense for this person to use a megaphone. But as I got closer to their group I kept trying to listen to what was being said, but couldn't hear anything. At one point I got right next to the teacher and still couldn't hear them, even though all the parents could. I thought maybe he didn't have the thing turned on but he did. He was just talking so quietly that the megaphone didn't have anything to amplify. I wanted to yell, "Louder!!!" but didn't want to be rude so I just pretended to listen and nodded my head when everyone else did.

Ha ha...yes, in Thailand we use megaphone a lot when we have a camp, tour groups. It does help a lot for Thai. But farang voice is already loud, can't imagine when they use the microphone

We use two little plastic microphones in class. They have no batteries and do nothing whatsoever. I hold one and ask questions, and the kids hold the other and answer them. I have absolutely no idea whats going on but the kids absolutely love it. I guess its good practice for public speaking.

The bus that took us over the border today had a karaoke machine, I think. Big tv built into the front area of the bus and really loud speakers. Seems like I saw a mic, but no one was singing. The radio was BLARING, though.
