After a long break from spending money, it is now time to complete the things we couldn't afford to do back in March.

There is one room on the first floor of the Isara Learning Center that isn't being used for anything. It is located between the classroom and the computer lab. We think it would be a great place for a small library. Also, instead of kids playing games on the computers, we want to provide them with outdoor activities (basketball, jump rope, etc.). Below is a list of items we will buy to make these two projects happen.

Isara Library:
Bookshelves - $40/ea (x2)
Books - $100 (could be less if shops donate some books)
Chairs - $25/ea (x2)
Table - $30
Total: $260

Sports/Playground:
Basketball goal - $75
Paytong court - $50 (like horseshoes but it uses metal balls)
Thaegaw net - $40 (a thai sport that is a mix of volleyball and hackysack)
Misc. equipment - $60 (jump ropes, badminton rackets, etc.)
Total: $225

Thank you to everyone who supports Isara with their clicks,
-pk

Oh yea! That will help A LOT! Grin Thank you very much for your donation. If you don't mind I'd like to tell everyone how much you donated so people know how close we are to reaching our goal. Is that ok?

pohui - That's a good idea but, unfortunately, it would cost more to mail books than it would to buy new books here. Sad

thartley - We're going to buy science, math, history, computers, and English books.

I certainly don't mind. Just don't like to seem like I'm bragging, especially when it's not that much. Smiley

Oh, $50 bucks is a lot! It's like 1/5th the library. Grin

We now need $210 more to finish the library.

Cheesy I've just received a check for $15 for serving as a juror. I'd like your learning center to have it.  Cheesy  Keep up the good work!

I just had a little idea for a catchphrase for your fundraising efforts, how about calling it the "Bucks for Books" campaign. It rhymes for me because i'm British not sure if it does so well in American.

Best of luck with the fundraising.

Did some shopping with the donations we've already received. Grin

Two bookshelves were purchased and also a sofa with a set of two chairs (the sofa is upstairs in the volunteer's living area).

We also purchased some things for the children to play with as they wait for class to begin.

A big thanks to everyone who has already donated and also to our Isara students (Boo and Theu) who have donated books.

 Grin Grin Grin
This is very exciting news for the ILC.  I know the children appreciate  all the new games and books.  Grin
As for me, I immediately noticed the comfortable chairs in the lobby. You definitely needed them.
WhoHoo! Now when volunteers (me included) come to visit you they won't have to sit on the concrete floor.

Thanks to hoodedman for his donation. Every bit helps.

We're still far from reaching our goal so now would be a good time to see what change has fallen behind the couch. lol

Edit: Thank you to thartley who just donated $100 to the cause. That will help buy A LOT of books! We're now less than $100 dollars from finishing the library. Grin
