Lately we've been noticing how much greed effects every thing and every one. Whether it's the price of gas or the poor quality of education in schools. Greed and corruption helps few and hurts many.

Today we are launching a new site called No Need For Greed. It will become a watchdog for corporations, governments, and even non-profit organizations. It's goal will be to educate citizens on ways to save money and also which businesses or organizations to avoid.

Greed will never be completely stamped out, but maybe we can do something to take some of its power away.

The site is still under-construction, but feel free to take a look.

Very nice idea.

Oh and by the way...

It's goal...

Possessive adjectives don't require apostrophes. "It's" is an abbreviation of "it is" or "it has". Smiley

MIng!!! Hello! Smiley

Also, PK, I did take a look at the site in more depth. Well done, I am looking forward to seeing it develop. If you need anything, please do not hesitate to ask.

Oh, and sorry if I seemed argumentative on DVXuser, but I have to challenge you every once in a while to keep you truckin'! Tongue

Just read a news story that says the current CEO of WaMu (my bank) stands to get $19 million when the JPMorgan deal finalizes. He has been at WaMu for 18 DAYS!!! That's $1.05 million per day when WaMu stock holders were losing millions per day. He might do the right thing and not accept. We'll see.

What a strange world we live in when failure is rewarded.

Wish there was a USA Credit Union here in Nong Khai. lol

I started to wonder what was up with the banking industry when Wa-Mus and Wachovias started showing up on every corner. This seemed strange with all of the electronic banking available now-a-days. You can pay your bills online, ie. less need for checks. Almost every payroll does direct deposit. So, either the majority of the transactions requiring a bank teller are cash transactions (ie. illegal workers) or the banks are leveraging a lot of money with a FDIC safety net. Someone should look to see if  Wa-Mu owned the companies paid to build all their banks.

Follow the money and you'll find the problem.

The problem lies in the mortgage companies and what is ridiculous is just what PK described: people are making millions for no reason and while everyone else is suffering. Now, regarding the FDIC: when you open a bank account you are guaranteed up to $100,000 by the FDIC. They cover a trillion some-odd dollars but they only have about $45 Billion to their name. They DON'T have our money! If everyone tried to get "their" money from the bank, it couldn't happen. Now, this would be the wrong thing to do anyway, mass panic only makes the problem worse. That being said, there is a lot that we don't know going on and I am tired of this bailout talk. It is not our responsibility to bail anyone out. The companies overextended and now they are paying the price. Everyone needs to remain calm and the problem will work itself out.

I agree.

Saw on FOX News that the CEO of WaMu actually sent a letter to all its shareholders, just one week prior to the banks failure, that told them everything was ok and there was nothing to worry about. Shareholders bought more stock (or didn't sell what they had) and within a week lost everything.  There might be a criminal investigation into it.

Bill O'Reilly actually told JP Morgan, on the air, "If you give that man $15 million dollars I am going to have a big problem with you. I know where you live." Awesome.

I just thought all of those small banks popping up was a sign that there is something 'fishy' going on. I don't know what it is specifically, it just seems weird.

I'll throw out an 'Ishmael-ism'...this is what happens to a society which puts the food under lock and key.

I don't know whether to jump with joy or call the cops! PK watching FOX News? And AGGREEING!? Cheesy I am glad we are on the same page, though, Kirk (if I can call you that. The only reason I did is because I didn't want to use "PK" again so close to the previous usage Grin)

I was just hearing about The Venus Project. Their goal is anti-establishment, anti-greed, anti-monetary, pro-progress, pro-education, and etcetera. You may want to check them out. Smiley

Another source you may want to investigate is an excellent doco, Zeitgeist: Addendum which can be viewed on Google Video. I think you'd really like it, PK. I think everyone should see it. It explains the problem of the monetary system and the solutions we can all be a part of. It goes for 2 hours, so it may be best to not watch it right now.  Grin
