Isara's One Millionth Page View

In a matter of days Isara will have its 1,000,000 page view, meaning that the home page has popped up atleast 1,000,000 times.  Thats a pretty big accomplishment.

I know that I am going to be gunning for that 1,000,000th view but I am sure some of you will be also .

To play along, when the time comes hit refresh a bunch of times and if your lucky you will get to see the counter at 1,000,000.  (On your keyboard there is a button, usaully labled Print Screen.  If you hit that it is like taking a picture of your screen.  You can then go into a program like Microsoft Paint and go to edit>paste.  Save that file as a Jpeg and you can upload it onto isara pix!  And if that is confusing, just remember to hit the Print Screen button on your keyboard and we can walk you through it.

Also!! There had better not be 74,000 page views over the weekend (I'll be selfish here) because I'll be in Lao haha

Thanks for the lesson on screen shots Sean. I think we should predict what time and day it'll happen.

I predict it will happen between 6 a.m. and 8 a.m. C.S.T on April 9th (I reserve the right to change the date depending on what day the Song Kran Helmet giveaway is, that will really drive up stats. I just can't remember if it will be the 9th my time or the 10th)

HA! I'm up to 935,299 and next to KitKat and pk, I spend the most time online...I'm thinking the odds are in the favor of one of us three. -he!, it'll be pk, hitting the refresh button 20 times at 2 in the afternoon when no one else is online except for himself.

I still stand by my statement that I will get the one millionth page view. As far as a prediction, I will have to monoitor the rate of increase for the page view count for about a day or two to get an extremely close estimate. I'll be back when I have my guess tomorrow evening, and then I will be back on that date to claim my prize!

Not too fast there. I have the password to the site and have modified the php scripts to freeze the count at 999,999 until ZeroG views the page.

ZeroG - Go ahead and try to use that smart brain (and mod benefits) to win the prize. But, need I remind everyone, that I too can play this game. With just one quick edit (in Notepad) I can change the Visitor Count to be 1,000,000. Hmmmmm Maybe I'll do it tonight, while everyone is sleeping. Speaking of, wouldn't the one millionth "visitor" actually be #1,000,001? Since there is no visitor "zero".

PK, shame on you for thinking of cheating the system and taking from me what is rightfully mine! I am already running an expirament to know when to return! Hahaha! And no, I believe it would be the 1,000,000 visitor unless the first visitor was counted as 0.

Okay, I cut my research short for tonight to get a rough estimate. I say (and I shouldn't, because now you will all know when to return) we will hit the magic 1,000,000 on Tuesday at 8:34 my time (PACIFIC TIME ZONE). I will be here, and I will win!

I will also do some follow up calculations later tonight and tomorrow and see if I can't come up with a more accurant number.

Hmm.. April 9th is here, the helmet give away is in 17 hours, and I don't think the site will be able to get the 30,000 hits to make it to a million. So my prediction was off. But maybe there will still be lots of people online at 5 p.m. Thai time to see the helmet giveaway?

So are these bots bad guys?  Or some kind of good guys for search engines?

They're mostly good guys from search engines. Isara topics get scanned almost daily. So a topic posted today will sometimes show up on search engines within a few days.

The Whose Online script on the homepage is more accurate.

Right, Mus. The 'who's online' page contains bots and unregistered prowlers. On the front homepage, the count is from actual humans or aliens using local library desktops.

Now, if we keep commenting like this...ya know.. fluffy talk, then we'll get to at least 980,000 today.

My prediction was off as well. But this was because, in my haste, I failed to acount for the time/visitor ratio and was too lazy to go back and recalculate. We are almost there, but I may decide to fix the algorithm anyway and see if I can figure out when I can come back to be the champion!

Ecks! It's going to happen this weekend! I am not good at predicting these things... It's up to 983,256 and when I posted earlier today, I thought it'd be great if it got to 980,000. I underestimated! So now, will the next 17,000 happen within 2 days??
