Programs in East Asia

  • January 20, 2011 5:17 AM PST
Just wondering if people have experienced other good programs in East Asia that they would recomend. Since I want to do a variety of stuff, help out, travel, and make a difference. Are there other programs, etc that people think are good. I mean even if its not in Asia is fine too, if you want to share great experiences please post. Thank you!!

I've only had the opportunity to volunteer with two organisations. One is Isara. The other requires you, as a volunteer, to pay. I do not recommend the latter.

I was told about this website which may help you find more organisations that offer free (or "low cost") volunteering: http://www.vaops.com/

Hi Susie. Thank you for wanting to volunteer in Thailand!

I'm very sorry we won't have a position available for you during your upcoming visit to Thailand but, please keep in mind, many times positions do become available because volunteers who were scheduled to be here cancel at the last moment or never show up :-(. I know in order for you to schedule your trip you need to have a definite "yes" from an organization but I thought I'd let you know, just in case your other opportunities do not work out. Feel free to contact us again when you're in Thailand and we might have an opening.

Here is another site you should try. They have a lot of listings for free and low cost volunteer opportunities.

Thanks again for wanting to help Thailand. :-)
