On Monday morning, C.F. arrived to Nong Khai. She is from Australia and has been traveling around southeast Asia for a while. We are very happy she has joined Isara here in Nong Khai. Already she has assisted with some of the ILC classes and also a new class we started at the Provincial Hall this evening. Thanks, C.F., and welcome to Isara!! ;D

Oh and yes Provincial Hall, that was an exciting suprise. Teaching government officials & members of the military. We even had our own microphones! It felt like I was in a Thai version of the movie 'The Interpreter.' We were just teaching them basic conversational English as we only had a couple of hours together, but it was definetely a worthwhile experience!

C.F.,I'd like to see what your tiny picture looks like bigger. It doesn't look like an avatar that is available in the forum catalog. :)

Thanks Gina, I have now put more info and more enlarged photos in my profile. My avatar is a photo of me kissing one of the ancient temples of Angkor in Cambodia.

I left Australia in December 2009, so 6 months. I arrived in the South of Thailand and did a yoga/philosophy/meditation course. I have since traveled in a big loop through Laos, Vietnam, Cambodia & back to Thailand, as a tourist as well as doing volunteer work here and there. Isara is the first charity organisation that I have worked with for such a long duration, partly because I enjoy working here so much. The team is great and so are our students, they really appreciate how much we are helping them. I found it pretty hard starting here at first because it was so hot and humid, it took a little time for my body to adjust. But now monsoon has also kicked in, this is helping. I'm glad in that sense most of our classes are late afternoon, when the temperature is not at its peak. The past week I have been working on name tags for the kids, class planning, teaching and other administration work and errands. In between work hours I try to do a bit of health exercises in the beautiful bamboo refuge Isara has made out back. It's very green and beautiful although its is sad this week because our neighbor's butchered one of the most beautiful old trees that divides us from their property. Because of this, I am going to focus the next couple of classes on the environment, so we can help educate the younger generation why nature is so important in our world.

I didn't realize that cutting the trees was going to change the beautiful deck area. :( Can someone take a photo? C.F., I'm glad you have felt drawn into Isara's spirit. Spread the love!

Thanks for the update C.F.. Have you been to an English Camp or to the Nong Jang school yet? I highly recommend doing both if you are giving the opportunity.

Thank you for your service C.F.. It sounds like you are helping to show the new volunteers around and I'm sure that means a lot to both Kirk and Ming. Enjoy your time learning with Dave. I never took classes with him, but there was never any question about his passion for teaching. Cheers!

Great! Actually I was referring to another school, Nong Jang, that Yvonne and I taught at.

    Thanks Hillscot :)

Zero : No funny that I haven't been there, but I guess I'm doing a bit of office work so that sometimes keeps me away from doing too many field trips, looks good though  ;D

Thank you CF for helping with the many office operations.......... a most important part of Isara.    Volunteering with Isara includes a wide range of opportunities to help.  Every aspect is greatly appreciated.  :D

You sound like someone who has to stay busy.  ;D When I was there we bought some binders and organized all of Dave's books into them. I'd love to see a picture of what the library/classroom looks like now.

CF recently left Isara to continue her journey around Asia. She was a lot of help during her stay. Her creative ideas and talent for graphic design really pushed us to do more. We all thank her very much for her help and generous support. Here are a few pics of CF!    Thanks again, CF. Have a great time in India!

CF! Its been more than a year since we met and worked for Isara. You haven't heard of me the past year and i feel kind of embarrest about it. I must have lost your email during the first weeks after my departure, very sorry for that. But i never forgot the people that were close to me when i was there, in lovely Nongkhai, which is still to me my second hometown (if it issn't my first place to go back to). Anyway i wanted to know how your time was in India, you've been in an osram right? Did you even try to meet with Osho? And i am curious where your are right now, still traveling through Asia or did you find your way back to Australia? love and peace Jeroen
