You might also try adding a little milk or cream to your coffee to reduce heartburn.

Well, I bought some Zantac 150 at the drugstore, but since not drinking coffee for two days, I have not had heartburn.  :-\  Coffee is one of the greatest pleasures and rituals of my mornings, and I hate to give it up.  But I'm day two of the latest "reset" trial.  I may give all those recommendations a try when I take the habit back up.

I love coffee, as well. Especially Cafe Britt brand, which my godmother has imported for me every month or so from Costa Rica.

Got a Starbucks girftcard for Christmas. Used it today to get a grande cafe mocha with caramel syrup. It was good but I still haven't found one as good as that one I had at Disneyland. I guess that's the "magic" in "the magic kingdom." :)

Have a problem with heartburn?? Um... boy howdy! :D I've had to avoid tomato products, chocolate (eGADs!), and caffeine for days lately. I do drink caffeine free tea, and half caff coffee. I can't remember every seeing caffeine free coffee beans?? I don't think it's the beans versus ground already, but you might try to mix fresh ground beans with a little caffeine free grounds to decrease the caffeine. Just a thought. Probably won't taste worth squat though. :P
Sorry there is no such thing as caffeine free coffee... caffeine occurs naturally in the beans just like it occurs naturally in tea and cocoa so it can be reduced by different chemical treatments and different roasting processes but the caffeine is not eliminated.  They think that coffee plants produce caffeine to protect the plant against fungus as caffeine is a natural anti-fungal chemical.... so coffee grown in less humid areas or higher altitudes that are less hospitable to fungus contain less caffeine.

I know caffeine free coffee is a myth, but drinking it helps me still consume 3 cups a day. If I had regular coffee, my system could only hack half a cup. And that's not even enough to last the first 10 minutes of my morning news show. :D

This will likely get me tossed right out of the coffee thread, but I've been making due with hot herbal/fruit "teas" in the morning.  I bought a sampler pack of Celestial Seasonings and have tried the Tangerine-Orange Zinger, Peach Orchard, and this morning I tried the Black Cherry and it is my favorite by far.  And the good thing is I dont consume any sugar with these herbal concoctions, HOWEVER it reminds me of something I saw on tv yesterday as I walked through the livingroom.

Two camera-thin news anchors were talking to a relatively big boned woman about how she lost some weight.  She said she totally switched the way she was eating, changing over to healthy foods, fresh veggies, etc and that her body began to crave these healthier foods instead of the unhealthy ones of her previous diet.  One of the anchors asked her, "So when you see a big 'ol country fried pork chop, what do you think?" to which she replied "I think 'disgusting' ".  I thought, "yeah right, you'd scarf it down sooner or later."

I keep thinking I can once and for all conquer the coffee addict in me, but nope.  I love coffee.

LoL, when it comes to our comfort foods, I don't think they ever change. Like I'll ever be able to switch from sugar and creamer in my coffee even if it's really high quality coffee...yeah, right! :D

The only REAL coffee is from little cafes run by Italian or Portugues old couples.

that's funny you say that since coffee was dicovered in ethiopia, I didn't think they had italian and portugese cafes in ethiopia but i guess anything is possible

Yesterday I, once again, used my Starbucks card to try a Tuxedo mocha: half dark chocolate/half white chocolate. It was quite good.

I don't know how much more you have left on that Starbux card, but if you keep using it, we're going to have to start calling you Tweek.

:D  I tried something new in my coffee this morning and I'm very happy with the result.
I'd been using cream with Sweet & Low for ever, but this morning I tried cream, 1 tsp. brown sugar and a little honey.  I warm this mixture in a cup in my microwave then add the freshly brewed coffee.  It's delicious!  ;D

Brown sugar? honey? Hmmm... interesting. Will have to try that this weekend when I have time. :) First, I'll have to buy some real cream too!

Ginafish, I use Coffee Mate liquid non-dairy creamer.  :D  It's delicious without the real cream.  :D

I also use coffeemate but I go for the powder because I like the consistency it gives the coffee.  Just a slight bit thicker, if coffee can be thick. LOL!  I would say "creamier" but I dont know if that is right either since its non-dairy, though it is a creamer.  ???

    I just confused myself.

My second drip coffee maker finally bit the dust, however, it was only about 1 yr. old.  So I finally decided to go with the same, but improved, coffee pot my mother used for years, "The Percolator" coffee pot by Cuisinart.    It's easy to clean with no hidden breakable parts.  :D  ;D    Now I finally have a "hot" cup of coffee with delicious flavor.  ;D
