Kony 2012 - criticized

  • Many people have it in them to criticize everything in the world. Nothing but complaints; sometimes there is some truth and sometimes...not so much.

Invisible children received a lot of criticism because of the success of their video "Kony 2012".
People just hate good things happening to others...
You will notice the bigger the organization, the bigger the criticism. Just look at all the other big orgs under fire like PETA, UN, NGO, World Vision, Greenpeace, etc.

Volunteers and friends of Isara are well aware there are some charities out there using people's kind hearts for the sole purpose of making money with no desire to help anyone. They should be ashame! But i don't think it's the case for Invisible Children. Their intentions are true and they have done amazing things so far. I still believe in what they're doing, at the very least they inspired millions of people around the world to make a difference...their finances are irrelevant.

No charity is perfect and the bigger you get the more complex you get.

Not everyone cares about doing anything, not everyone has the courage to change the world, not everyone is willing to spend money on charities (instead of fashion), not everyone wants to take time from their lives for a cause, not everyone HAS a cause they believe in.

    Many are just lasy.

If a video can inspire someone like that, than they're doing the right thing.

    We shouldn't be so selfish

    We shouldn't be so critical

What are YOU doing to change the world?

We SHOULD be more optimistic and happy people are doing things like these (ok, now i sound like Kirk lol)

If Isara had millions in revenue every year, it would also spark controversy and criticism in everything they do. It's just how humans are.

James Padolsey "accusations that the organization is providing an idealistic and overly simplistic solution to an incredibly complex problem" - exactly. Let's not pretend to understand the issues fully. And let's not get so emotionally invested in this IC campaign that ...  more

Anita Das I've got mixed feeling on KONY 2012, but I think at the very least it's creating really interesting discussions not just about Africa but also about the ethicalness of nonprofits. In this sense, I think it's really great to raise awareness as long as peop...  more
